End Your Summer Fun at the Columbia County Fair!

The Columbia County Fair runs September 2-7.  Nightly grandstand entertainment: Jo Dee Messina Sun., Chuck Wicks Fri., Painted Pony Rodeo Mon., Monster Tractor Pull Sat.., Demolition Derbies, Wed. & Thurs.  Also midway rides wristbands daily, petting zoo, racing pigs, 170 exhibitors, dozens of livestock & craft shows, loads of free entertainment.  Free parking.  The cost is $10, kids 12 and under free.  Fair begins on Wednesday at 3:00 pmand then open 10:00 am to 11:00 pm daily.  For more information about the Columbia County Fair call (518) 392-2121 or visit their website at www.columbiafair.com.


See a Performance

Bindlestiff Family Cirkus and Columbia County Historical Society invite you to attend a rollicking romp on the lush lawns of the Columbia County Historical Society's Luykas Van Alen House on Route 9H in Kinderhook on Saturday, September 6, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:30 pm .  Enjoy friends, neighbors, entertainment, music by Kelley Love Ensemble, snacks and beverages along with Bindlestiff's leading lady Ringmistress Philomena and her companion Mr. Pennygraff as they perform two sets of vaudevillanous variety acts, including sword swallowing, fire eating, whip cracking, juggling and physical comedy.Mistaken identities, bewildering desires, and practical jokes.  Adult tickets are $15, children 10 -15 years $5, children under 10 FREE.  For more information about the performance call Columbia County Historical Society at (518) 758-9265 or visit their website at www.cchsny.org.

Enjoy an Improv


Walking the dog theater presents OFF LEASH! Imporv Ensemble on the Hudson Waterfront as part of the "Take me to the River" Series on Saturday, September 12 at 2:00 pm.  The OFF LEASH! Come to a Family Barn Dance

The Columbia Land Conservancy invite you to join them for a night of fun and dancing with the Mountain Laurel band on Saturday, September 12 from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at the Columbia County Fairgrounds, Fairhouse.  Light refreshments and food will be provided.  Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door.  Adult tickets are $8, childrens tickets are $5 and the maximum ticket price is $20 per family.  For tickets or more information about the Columbia Land Conservancy call (518) 392-5252 or visit their website at www.clctrust.org.


Attend a Festival of Books

Enjoy a Taste of Hudson

Come and enjoy "A Taste of Hudson" organized by BeLo 3rd on September 12 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Thurston Park on Warren Street between 2nd and 3rd Street.  Each participating restaurant will have a table to serve a small sampling of it's menu.  Tickets (BeLo bucks) will be sold for $1.00 each before and during the event.  Guests will use these to purchase food item.  For more information about the event call J. See a Outdoor Movie

Enjoy a Harvest Day

Martin Van Buren National Historic Site will be hosting its annual Harvest Day.  This year's event will include a celebration of the voyage of Henry Hudson to the river that bears his name.  Harvest Day is Saturday, September 26 from 1:00 - 5:00 pm.  The event will offer special presentations by members of the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of the Mohican Indian Nation and by area farmers and craftspeople.  Learn gardening techniques, observe farm crafts and skills and explore the agricultural history of President Van Buren's residence.  There will be master gardener talks, demonstrations, butter churning and other special treats as well as musical entertainment.  Admission is FREE.  For more information about the Martin Van Buren Historic Site call (518) 758-9689 or visit their website at www.nps.gov/mava.
