See a Gallery Show

Take your Tots for a Winter Stroll

On Saturday, January 13 and 27 from 1:00 to 2:30 pm, Taconic State Park will offer Snow Rangers for Tots.  Children will go on a snowshoe walk, then create their own sparkly snowflake art project to bring home using salt crystals; preschool age level.  For more information about Taconic State Park call (518) 329-3993 or visit their website at http://nyparks.state.ny.us/parks/.

Enjoy a Winter Walk

Olana State Historic Site invites you to enjoy a short hike in the wintry Olana landscape on Saturday, January 13.  You will walk the Church family farm site and discover why the family often referred to Olana as simply "the farm".  Dress for the weather.  Children are welcome and should be prepared to walk about one mile.  The walk will depart at 1:00 pm from the Cozy Cottage parking lot.  For more information about Olana State Historic Site call (518) 828-0135 or visit their website at www.olana.org.

Attend an Auction


Stair Galleries will hold an Exposition Auction on Friday, January 19 at 6:00 pm.  The auction will feature period and reproduction furniture; a large collection of decorative accessories including glass, porcelain, pottery, sterling silver, silver plate and clocks; art of varied periods along with room and scatter size rugs.   For more information about Stair Galleries call (518) 751-1000 or visit their website at www.stairgalleries.com.


See a Show

The Ghent Playhouse will feature "Wait Until Dark" from January 19 through February 4.  "Wait Until Dark," which opened on Broadway in 1966 was later made into a popular film with Audrey Hepburn and Alan Arkin.  Frederick Knott's play is an innovative and highly entertaining thriller, filled with suspense. The play runs on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 pm and Sundays at 2:00 pm.  Tickets are $12 for Playhouse members and $15 for the general public.  This production is not recommended for young children.  For more information about The Ghent Playhouse call (518) 392-6264 or visit their website at www.ghentplayhouse.org.

Attend a Gala Event


The Spencertown Academy will present the "Spencertown Revels, a Toast to Tartans and Tees" on Saturday, January 20 at 5:00 pm.  The annual Spencertown Revels features a scottish theme this year.  Party-goers will be greeted at the door of the stately Morris Memorial Building in Chatham by an authentic bagpipe welcome, then ushered into the grand hall bedecked in tartan and candlelight for a gala cocktail reception featuring catered hors d'oeuvres, fine wines, and rare single malt Scotches.  The event will feature the Great Argyle auction with lots of fabulous prizes.  Later in the evening, revelers will fan out across the county to elegant private homes for a gourmet dinner hosted by a friend of the Academy.  For more information about Spencertown Academy call (518) 392-3693 or visit their website at www.spencertownacademy.org.

Join the Chamber for the Columbia County Ski Challenge


Get your team together now for the Columbia County Ski Challenge.  Businesses and other community groups are invited to put together teams of two to four people to race against other teams.  Friendly competition between teams is encouraged!  Prizes will be given to the most (and least) talented skiers amongst us.  Everyone is encouraged to come out and watch the fun!  Ski Nite will be held on January 25 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm at Catamount Ski Area.  Lift tickets for Ski Nite can be purchased at the Chamber office.  For more information about the Columbia County Ski Challenge call the Chamber at (518) 828-4417 or visit the website at www.columbiachamber-ny.com.

Enjoy Mozart

The Hudson Opera House and artists of the Diamond Opera Theater invite you to a celebration of Mozart's 251st Birthday with an audience-participation sing-through of Mozart's Requiem and Ave Verum, conducted by Gwen Gould, DOT Music Director, with Michael Clement at the Piano.  The celebration will be held on Friday, January 26 at 7:30 pm.  Admission is $8 and $7 for members.  For more information about the Hudson Opera House call (518) 822-1438 or visit their website at www.hudsonoperahouse.org.

Attend a Performance
