Attend a GhostWALK

Discover Hudson's Ghostly Past.  Tour begins at 6:00 pm at Space 360 located at 360 Warren Street in Hudson.  Visit each of four historic locations, hear four chilling Ghost Stories by area teens, performed by the participants of Walking the dog Theater's After School Drama Workshop.  The four locations are the Hudson Opera House, "The Opera";  Register-Star Building, "Devil's Prey", Hudson Area Library, "Purgation" and Space 360, "Blood and Roses".  The tour will end at Space 360 with the Grand Finale at 8:00 pm with Henry Hudson's own haunting tale, "Sounding the Hudson", an original work by Ashley Mayne, performed by Walking the dog Theater.  For tickets or more information call (917)744-6844 or visit their website at www.GhostWalkHudson.com.

Learn a Little History

On Saturday, November 7, the Columbia County Historical Society will hold the first of several History Saturdays for children and families from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.  Each program will include a hands on activity based on a timely historical theme.  The cost is $5 per child or $10 per family.  Programs are free for CCHS members.  November and December programs will take place in the James Vanderpoel House located at 16 Broad Street in Kinderhook.  November 7th program is Keeping Warm During the Long Cold Winter: Sheep and Wool.  For more information about Columbia County Historical Society call (518) 758-9265 or visit their website at www.cchsny.org.

Attend a Workshop

The Olana Partnership is proud to offer a free public program on Sunday, November 8 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm at the Olana State Historic Site Wagon House Education Center: From Garden to Table.  For those interested in learning how to use the local Hudson Valley bounty, or produce right from your own garden to make delicious and nutritious recipes that coincide with the seasons and aide your health.  Local dietician, Betsy Cashen and Albany Honest Weight Food Co-op Nutrition and Education Chair, Louise Frazier will lead this cookery workshop.  For more information about The Olana Partnership call (518) 828-1872 x110 or visit their website at www.olana.org.

Go on a Chef's Kitchen Tour

On Wednesday, November 11 at 12:00 pm, Columbia County Bounty invites farmers and consumers into chef's kitchens for the annual Farm to Chef Tour.  The tour starts in the kitchen of Verdigris Tea, 13 South 3rd Street, then DA/BA restaurant and concludes at Strongtree Organic Coffee Roasters, all in Hudson, NY.  The three hour behind the scenes tour features chef demonstrations using local seasonal fare.  All Bounty members are invited to the Farm to Chef Tour at no charge, and all are welcome to join the Bounty for an annual membership of $25 in order to attend this tour and other Bounty events. Attend an Auction

Listen to Live Music

Enjoy Traditional Irish music at the Spencertown Academy on Saturday, November 15 at 7:30 pm.  A quintet comprised of some uniquely talented young musicians hailing from Chicago, BUA (Gaelic for Victory) has quietly risen to be one of America's premier traditional Irish music ensembles.  BUA has performed at numerous festivals including Boston's prestigious Irish Connections Festival, The Milwaukee Festival, Cleveland's Irish Cultural Festival and many more. Enjoy a the Perfect Trio:  Bread, Wine & Cheese

Attend a Holiday Bazaar

On Saturyday, November 21 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm attend the Reformed Dutch Church Bazaar in the Village of Claverack.  You will find trifles and a treasure table.  There will also be a luncheon along with home baked pies, cakes, breads and relishes.  Other things that can be purchased are Thanksgiving centerpieces, door wreaths, hand sewn and designed wall hangings, table runners, napkins and designer aprons.  There will also be hand knit sweaters, hats, mittens and scarfs.  It is a huge event.  For more information about the Reformed Dutch Church call (518) 828-7884 or visit their website at www.claverackreformedchurch.org.

See a Show

The Ghent Playhouse will feature the Puss In Boots.  The Cat is back.  The Pantoloons return with a tale of a boot wearing, talking kitty with an attitude.  A pair of really ugly sisters, the clean air fairy, a trashy witch and assorted others join Puss in the musical mayhem.  Show runs from November 27 to December 13.  Tickets are $15 and $12 for members.  For tickets or more information about The Ghent Playhouse call (518) 392-6264 or visit their website at www.ghentplayhouse.org.


Enjoy a Movie

From November 26 -29 enjoy seeing Elevator to the Gallows at Time and Space Limited.  Elevator to the Gallows is a richly atmospheric thriller of murder and mistaken identity unfolding over one restless Parisian night.  Louis Malle's mesmerizing debut feature brought together the beauty of Jeanne Moreau, the camera work of Henri Decae and now legendary score by Miles Davis.  Tickets are $7 members are $5.  For more information about Time and Space Limited call (518) 822-8448 or visit their website at www.timeandspace.org.
