Attend the Columbia County Fair

See a Show

The Mac-Haydn Theatre will feature their "End of the Season: Cabaret", to delight in the 2006 company's talents.  Reserve your seats early for this popular show, featuring the folks you've loved all summer long.  The show will be held on Saturday, September 2.  Tickets are $24.50 and $23.50; $23.50 for all matinee seats; children under 12, $12.00.  For more information about the Mac-Haydn Theatre call (518) 392-9292 or visit their website at www.machaydntheatre.org.


Take a Tour

Watch a Dance Performance

Attend a Village Celebration

Come celebrate the Village of Valatie's 150th Anniversary on September 14, 15 and 16.  The three-day festival will feature a variety of activities.  Enjoy the opening ceremony on September 14 with the reading of the proclamation of when the village was incorporated, dedication of Vietnam War Memorial and live music at 7:00 pm.  On September 15 and 16 enjoy free rides and entertainment at Callan Park.  There will be fireworks on September 16 at 9:00 pm    For more information about The Village of Valatie call (518) 758-6643 or (518) 758-1656

Celebrate Agriculture

Lindenwald will host the 4th Annual Harvest Day on Saturday, September 23 from 1:00 to 5:00 pm.      Enjoy an afternoon of family fun and interesting events to celebrate the importance of agriculture to our eighth president, Martin Van Buren, and its continued importance to Columbia County.  Among this year's events will be milking, butter making, tinsmithing, broom making, wool dying, sheep shearing, horse shoeing, live music, farm animals, story telling, free horse drawn wagon rides and much more!  For more information about the Martin Van Buren National Historic Site call (518) 758-9689 or visit their website at www.nps.gov/mava.

Attend a Festival


Bascilica Industria presents the Celebration of Celts Ancient Celtic Fire Festival on Saturday, September 23 from 4:00 to 10:00 pm.  The festival will feature Coyote Run, Salas An Lae (dynamic Irish dance), a 30 foot tall Wicker Man and more.  Bascilica Industria is located on Front Street in Hudson.  For more information about the Celebration of Celts call (518) 851-9870 or visit their website at www.celebrationofcelts.com.

Discover Art in Columbia County


The Columbia County Council on the Arts will host the 12th Annual Hudson ArtsWalk, September 30 through October 9.  This is one of Columbia County's and the Hudson River Valley's largest events.  ArtsWalk features cutting edge visual and installation art, sculpture, dance, music, with school-aged portrait artists in pocket parks and a steady stream of art auctions, mural-making, sidewalk chalk art, fine food and other astonishments.  Art will be displayed at various locations throughout Hudson.  For more information about Columbia County Council on the Arts call (518) 671-6213 or visit their website at www.artscolumbia.org.


Attend an Auction

Take a Run

Enjoy the beautiful fall views of Olana while running the Olana Fall 5K.   Olana may be most commonly known for the 'castle' on the hill, but the Site also boasts a 250 acre landscape designed by Hudson River School artist Frederic Church.  Five miles of carriage drives deliberately take advantage of fantastic views overlooking the Hudson River and Catskill Mountains.  Runners be warned!  This is one steep hill!  The children's race starts at 9:00 am and the adults race starts at 9:30 am.  For more information about Olana State Historic Site call (518) 828-0135 ext 305 or visit their website at www.olana.org.
