Join
in a celebration of books at Spencertown Academy's second annual
Festival of Books. Spread over two weekends, September 7-9
and September 14-16, the Academy will host all things literary with
author readings, panel discussions on topics relevant to the book
industry today, a poetry tea, entertainment, a gallery exhibition
of book art, and a Kid's Corner featuring visits by Clifford the
Big Red Dog. Over 10,000 gently used or new books in every
category will be carefully sorted and on sale at very reasonable

Attend
the Celtic Festival
The Celts are coming to Valatie for the annual Celtic Fest on September
9 at the Glynn Square on Church Street in Valatie from 1:00 to 4:00
pm. The festivities will open with a carillon serenade of
Celtic music from the bells of The First Presbyterian Church followed
by a marching Bagpiper Band provided by World Pipe Band Champion
Tristan Wilson. There will be live entertainment, dancing,
children's tales, face painting and much more. For more information

Check Out Mountain Bike Riding at Catamount
Visit Catamount Ski Area to
check out the Mountain Bike Trails. They will have three dates
this fall for people to ride on the new trails. The dates
are September 8th & 29th and October 27th with rain dates for
these events being held on Sundays. The trails will be open
from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. There is no charge for these events.

Walking the Dog Theater, in
collaboration with The Actor's Ensemble and Shakespeare Alive!,
opens the third production of its 2007 10th anniversary theater
season with William Shakespeare's Hamlet. The production will
run from September 14-30 in residence at Stageworks/Hudson.

Celebrate Harvest Day
The 5th Annual Harvest Day at
Lindenwald will be an afternoon of family fun and interesting events
to celebrate the importance of agriculture to our eighth president
and its continued importance to all of New York. The event
will be held on Saturday, September 22 from 1:00 to 5:00 pm.
The event will feature demonstrations, crafts, songs dance, food,
and fun activities such as 19th Century children's games. Other
events will include milking, butter making, tinsmithing, broom making,
wool dying, sheep shearing, horse shoeing, live music, farm animals,
story telling, free horse drawn wagon rides and much more.

September 28 through October 14. Written by the team that
brought us The Fantasticks this is a funny and heart-warming story
of two people who have taken that most important step - marriage.
Covering the first half of the 20th century we follow the ups and
downs of Agnes and Michael with love shining through all the smiles
and tears. This is a show that the whole family can enjoy.

unite and compete once again at the 2nd Annual Columbia-Greene Chili
Cook-Off and Riverfront Fair on Saturday, September 29 from 11:00
am to 5:00 pm. This year Hudson Waterfront Park takes on Historic
Catskill Point, so come out, taste and vote at both locations.
The event will feature a farmer's market, artisan's market, chili
contest, live music, free Hudson-Catskill boat rides and much more!

The
13th annual ArtsWalk, an 11-day festival of visual and performing
arts starts on Friday, September 28 and runs through Monday, October
8. ArtsWalk kicks off on September 28 with its third annual
benefit dinner, Eat For Art. Joining the Pocketbook Factory
as a site for art will be the 30,000 square foot former Cannonball
Factory. For the first time Columbia County Council on the
Arts is organizing three types of shows distributed between the
two magical buildings: the Members Open Show, the Juried Art
Show, and a series of Curated Shows - themed shows chosen by area
