Attend a Heat in the Cold Event at the Winery

On Saturday, February 6 from 12:00 pm to 5:30 pm at the Hudson-Chatham Winery will present, Savor Larry's Sauces!  Larry Sombke will be tasting his Southwestern Ranchero and Chipotle Sauces at the winery! These are original recipes inspired by the foods he loved while traveling in Mexico and the American Southwest. Made with healthy all-natural ingredients, these delicious sauces will bring the flavors - and heat - of the Southwest to your tummy and table. He has some great recipes for Super Bowl Sunday, too. One taste and you are seriously hooked!  For more information about the Hudson-Chatham Winery call (518) 392-9463 or visit their website at www.hudson-chathamwinery.com.

Listen to a Reading

On Saturday, Febraury 6 at 8:00 pm, Hudson Opera House presents Peter Neofotis, prize-winning author/performer of Concord, Virginia: A Southern Town in Stories, will perform from memory a cycle of his most historical and heartfelt tales, The Ghosts and The Abandoned Church.  The cost is $15 or $12 for HOH members.  For more information about Peter Neofotis or the Hudson Opera House call (518) 822-1438 or visit their website at www.hudsonoperahouse.org.

Learn a Little History

Columbia County Historical Society will be offering a little history on Saturday, February 6 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the James Vanderpoel House.  Made with Love: Valentine’s and Tussy Mussies.  Before we could buy pre-made Valentine’s in the store, affection was often shown through hand-made gifts: carefully written love-letters, fancy Valentines, and bouquets that sent a message through their flowers. Show someone how much you love them by making a Valentine and creating a special small bouquet, called a tussy mussy.  For more information about Columbia County Historical Society call (518) 758-9265 or visit their website at www.cchsny.org.

See a Movie

On February 5, 6, 7, 12 & 13 Time and Space Limited will present Sweetgrass, a film by Ilisa Barbash and Lucien Castaing-Taylor ( Made In China). An unsentimental elegy to the American West, Sweetgrass follows the last modern-day cowboys to lead their flocks of sheep up into Montana's breathtaking and often dangerous Absaroka-Beartooth mountains for summer pasture. This astonishingly beautiful, yet unsparing, film reveals a world in which nature and culture, animals and humans, vulnerability and violence are all intimately meshed. A must-see - this movie got great reviews and is only showing in a few theaters across America!  The cost is adults $7, students $5 and TSL Members $5.  For times and tickets, please contact Time and Space Limited at (518) 822-8448 or visit their website at www.timeandspace.org.
