Enjoy the Chili Cook-Off & Riverfront Farmfest

The 4th annual Hudson Valley Chili Cook-Off and Riverfront Farmfest will be held on Saturday, October 10th from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Henry Hudson Park on the Waterfront in Hudson, rain or shine.  This one-day fun-filled festival highlights the best of the local farm bounty as more than a dozen contestants go head to head with their chili.  The event will feature a farmer's market, live music, food vendors and activities for children.  Admission is free with the exception of a $5 entrance fee to the Chili Tent.  For more information about the Chili Festival contact Columbia County Bounty at (518) 392-9696 or visit their website at www.columbiacountybounty.com.

Attend the 2nd Annual Hillsdale & Copake Fall Harvest Festival

The communities of Copake and Hillsdale present the second annual old-fashioned Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 3 from 12:00 to 5:00 pm.  The event will take place at the Roe Jan Park on Route 22 on the Hillsdale/Copake border.  Attendees can enjoy horse-drawn hayrides, pumpkin contests, apple pie contest, a silent auction, farmers market, face painting, children's activities and more.  For more information about the Harvest Festival call Christine Dellea at (518) 325-3045

Attend a Landscape Painting Workshop

The Olana Partnership is proud to offer a public program, Friday, October 9th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm in the Wagon House Education Center, at the Olana State Historic Site:  Intensive Landscape Painting Workshop.  For those interested in learning new techniques to consider when painting, experimenting in new mediums, and having an accomplished painter as your guide - this workshop is for you.  Join other artists in creating original paintings of the breathtaking picturesque Olana landscape, home of the famed Hudson River School artist Frederic Church.  Bring a picnic lunch.  Rain date is October 16th.  The cost of the workshop is $20/adult; $10 for members of the Olana Partnership.  Registration is necessary as space is limited.  For more information about Olana call (518) 828 - 1872 or visit their website at www.olana.org.

Plan to attend the Dog Gone! Gala Benefit Auction

The Best in Show dogs that have graced the streets of the City of Hudson all summer long are ready to find their permanent homes at the Dog Gone! Gala Benefit Auction on Sunday, October 11.  The Gala will begin at noon with a cocktail brunch at Hudson's Club Helsinki on the Hudson.  Come and bid on your favorite dog and have a dog gone good time!  Tickets are $30 for the event and reservations are required.  For more information about the Dog Gone! See Beautiful Artwork during ArtsWalk

The Columbia County Council on the Arts will present the 15th annual ArtsWalk from October 9th -18th.  Over 150 regional artists will be represented this year at the members show in The Cannonball Factory located in the City of Hudson. Enjoy a Play

Ghent Playhouse to open their 35th Anniversary Season with Mark Dunn's comedy "Belles" opening October 9th running through October 25th.  "Belles" is a play in two acts and 45 phone calls.  The six eccentric Walker sisters grew up in Memphis, where the oldest Peggy remains taking care of their mother.  The other five:  a bitter alcoholic, minister's wife - marriage falling apart, ventriloquist, a whacked out New Ager and a grad student with dating issues. They have all scattered into the winds.  When mama eats some bad tuna, Peggy starts their telephone network in motion, with both comedic and dramatic results.  Performances are Friday and Saturdays at 8:00 pm and Sunday matinees at 2:00 pm.  Tickets are $15; $12 for Ghent Playhouse members.  For more information about The Ghent Playhouse call (518) 392-6264 or visit their website at www.ghentplayhouse.org.

Enjoy Autumn in Austerlitz

The Austerlitz Historical Society will present the 12th annual Autumn in Austerlitz on Sunday, October 11 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at the site of Old Austerlitz on Route 22 in Austerlitz.  The event will include a variety of activities designed to portray an early 19th century theme, which is the time period of the reconstructed Old Austerlitz.  Exhibits, demonstrations, vendors, music, fun and food will abound.  Admission to the event is $6 per adult and children under 12 are free. Celebrate OK Fall Festival in Kinderhook

Attend the 10th annual FilmColumbia Festival


FilmColumbia returns to celebrate its 10th festival season on Thursday, October 22.  Hosted by The Chatham Film Club the festival will screen more than 30 independent films, documentaries, shorts and animations from around the world.  FilmColumbia unfolds with award-winning screenings and sneak previews.  The festival will be held at the historic Crandell Theatre along with the Morris Memorial Community Center and Tracy Memorial Hall.  Tickets can be purchased during the festival at the Tracy Memorial Hall, at TicketFusion after October 9th or by mail.   FilmColumbia runs for four days from October 22-25.  For tickets or more information about FilmColumbia call (518) 392-3445 or visit their website at www.filmcolumbia.com.

Enjoy Ghent Community Day
