Attend a Benefit Gala
Veteran television, stage and film actor, Kenneth Kimmins will host the Play's the Thing 3!, the annual gala for Stageworks/Hudson on Saturday, November 1. The evening’s entertainment, features the production of original one-minute plays written by gala attendees and performed by a star-studded cast. A dinner catered by Carlucci Catering, a silent art auction, as well as a live auction will round out the evening. The gala begins at 5:30 pm with a cocktail reception followed by dinner and the one-minute plays. Experience the Olana Viewshed Tour
On Saturday, November 1, The Olana Partnership and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation are joining twelve landowners to celebrate the beauty which surrounds Olana's landscape. This first-of-its-kind event, the Olana Viewshed Tour, will provide access to twelve privately-owned landscapes in the Olana Viewshed. Participants will visit farms and estates, walk across meadows, up hills, beside ponds and streams and through orchards. This day-long fundraiser will culminate in a sunset party featuring wine and local hors d'oeuvres in a restored barn on protected Olana Viewshed land. Go on the Farm to Chef Tour
On Wednesday, November 12 at 12:00 pm, Columbia County Bounty invites farmers and consumers into chef's kitchens for the annual Farm to Chef Tour. The tour starts in the kitchen of the Chatham Co-Op. One of the area's newest chefs, Chef Jeff Loshinsky, will do a demonstration on roasting autumn root vegetables and how to season to add flavor. Then, Carol Hargis of the Chocolate Moose will show how they create their delicious local hand-dipped creations at their shop in Chatham. The group will also get to go behind the scenes into the kitchen of master baker Madeline Delosh at her new Mado Patisserie in Chatham. All Bounty members are invited to the Farm to Chef Tour, and all are welcome to join the Bounty for an annual membership of $25 in order to attend this tour and other Bounty events. Try Something New This Fall! Introduction To Basic Circus Arts For Adults
Run away with the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus and be home by bedtime! Students will get an introduction to basic 3 object juggling, object balancing, basic funambulistics (stilts, rolla bola, rolling globe) and partner juggling. Each session will focus on warm up and dexterity exercises, skill building and practice, and goal evaluation. Instructor will help each student set realistic goals for weekly practice and final, informal presentation. Great skill set for actors seeking to enhance their versatility. Instructor Stephanie Monseu is a professional circus, variety artist and teacher, with a 15 year career as a juggler, stilt walker, fire eater, ringmistress, physical comedian, and high wire stunt artist. The Ghent Playhouse will feature the Pantoloons in an original production of "Jack and the Beanstalk" from Friday, November 28 through Sunday, December 14. A Pantoloon's production at Thanksgiving has now become a holiday tradition in Columbia County, with cross-dressing jokes, political jokes and much schtick. "Jack and the Beanstalk" is the ninth production by the Pantoloons in Columbia County. The Pantoloons productions are for children 3 to 103 years and audience participation is encouraged. Take a Winter Walk on Warren Street
Get ready for a Winter Walk on Warren Street on Saturday, December 6 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Hudson's main street will be transformed into a winter wonderland, as the Hudson Opera House presents "A Winter Walk on Warren Street". This eagerly-awaited event kicks off the holiday season in historic Hudson. Always held on the first Saturday in December, this festive holiday celebration is now in its 12th year and become a premier event in the Hudson Valley. Winter Walk features dancers, storytellers, and musicians performing in shop windows, horse-drawn carriage rides, live reindeer and a Santa Parade. Groups of carolers stroll the streets, along with the walking Grandfather Clock, the Gingerbread Boy and other characters. There is much to see and do.
