Attend a Winter Walk on Warren Street
On Saturday, December 2 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, Hudson's main street will be transformed into a winter wonderland, as the Hudson Opera House presents "A Winter Walk on Warren Street," the eagerly-awaited kick-off to the holiday season in historic Hudson. Always held on the first Saturday in December, this festive holiday celebration is now in its tenth year and become a premier event in the Hudson Valley. Winter Walk features dancers, storytellers, and musicians performing in shop windows, horse-drawn carriage rides, live reindeer and a Santa Parade. Groups of carolers stroll the streets, along with the walking Grandfather Clock, the Gingerbread Boy and other characters. There is much to see and do. See a Show
The Copake Theatre Company will feature "A Tuna Christmas", an off-the-wall comedy written by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears and Ed Howard and will feature two incredibly talented area actors, Andrew Joffe and Thom Whaley, playing a dizzying array of comical characters of both sexes from Texas' third smallest town, Tuna where the Lion's Club is considered too Liberal and Patsy Cline never dies. The show will run from November 17 through December 3 on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 pm and Sundays at 2:00 pm at the Copake Grange on Empire Road. Visit the Gallery of Wreaths & Holiday Crafts
The Columbia County Museum will feature the Gallery of Wreaths from December 2 through 10. Holiday crafts will also be available. The hours for viewing are Monday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and Sunday from 12:00 to 4:00 pm. Enjoy Candlelight Night
Candlelight Night is an annual event sponsored by the Kinderhook Business and Professional Association to showcase the quaint shops and unique businesses in Kinderhook. Candlelight Night will be held on Friday, December 8 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm rain, snow or shine. All evening shops and offices in the Village will be open for visitors to browse and enjoy refreshments. Luminaries will light your way from door to door to meet your local business people. Bring your family and friends and celebrate the holiday season. Visit Santa Claus at National Union Bank of Kinderhook, ride the horse-drawn wagon at Berkshire Telephone, visit Rebekah's Salon for their 2nd annual open house for mini facials and hand massages, greet real live reindeer in the village square and listen to strolling carolers. Attend a Holiday Bonfire
Olana State Historic Site will host a Holiday Bonfire on December 9 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. A winter walk or snowshoe around the lake will be followed by a 4:00 pm bonfire with traditional carolers. Attend a Holiday Crafts Show
The Spencertown Academy will host a Holiday Crafts Show from December 9 through December 21. An opening reception will be held on December 9 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Special shopping hours continue 10:00 am to 5:00 pm through December 21. Enjoy live music, seasonal refreshments and free gift wrapping while you choose unique holiday gifts from a dazzling assortment of ceramics, glass, jewelry and more, hand-made by local artisans. Take a Winter Walk in Valatie
On Friday, December 15 the Village of Valatie will hold its annual Winter Walk in Valatie from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Enjoy storytelling, musicians, a performance by the Ghent Band starting at 6:15 pm, face painters, carolers, refreshments and a silent auction, hayrides down Main Street and Santa Claus arrives at 6:30 pm. See a Play
Stageworks/Hudson presents Charles Dicken's "A Christmas Carol". The play featuring Greg Oliver Bodine is a solo adaptation of Dicken's classic tale. It's a sincere, moving performance that sets the mood for the coming holidays. The show will be held for two days only on Friday, December 15 at 8:00 pm and Saturday, December 16 at 2:00 pm. Enjoy a Candlelight Tour
Clermont State Historic Site will host the annual Candlelight Tours of Clermont on Saturday, December 16 and Sunday, December 17. Tours will be held from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm with a bonfire and carols at 3:00 pm. Attend a Performance
The Taconic Hills Performing Arts Center will present the Hudson Vagabond Puppets performance of "The Snow Queen" on Sunday, December 17 at 2:30 pm. The Snow Queen, written by Hans Christian Anderson has delighted children around the world for generations. The performance tells the story about a young girl, Gerde, with the help of a wise reindeer and kindhearted crow, a robber girl and an old woman from Finland, searches for her dear friend, Kay, held captive at the Snow Queen Palace. The puppeteers, all professional dancers and actors, combine various puppetry techniques for the performance. Tickets for the event are $10 for students and children and $12 for adults.
