See a Show
The Ghent Playhouse will feature the Pantoloons new production "Hair Loom! Rapunzel and Rumpelstiltskin in Dis Tress" through Sunday, December 9. A Pantoloon's production at Thanksgiving has now become a holiday tradition in Columbia County. "Hair Loom!" is the Pantoloons eighth British-American Panto in Columbia County. The Pantoloons productions are for children 3 to 103 years and audience participation is encouraged. For tickets or more information about The Ghent Playhouse call (518) 392-6264 or visit their website at www.ghentplayhouse.org.

Attend a Holiday Celebration
The Kinderhook Village annual Candlelight Night will be held on Friday, December 7 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. Come and enjoy the night with your family and friends and celebrate the season with the Village shopkeepers, business owners and the museums. Luminaries will light your way to the Greens show at the James Vanderpoel House, a tour of Historic homes on Broad Street, horse drawn sleigh rides at Fairpoint Telephone, wine tasting at the OK Package Store, carolers, Santa Claus at Kinderhook Bank and much more. For more information about this event visit the Kinderhook Business and Professional Association website at www.kbpa.org.

Celebrate the Season
The Martin Van Buren National Historic Site will celebrate the season with music, drama and special tours of President Van Buren's mansion decorated and lighted for the season on Friday, December 7. The home and farm of the eighth President will be aglow with the warm light and holiday greens that evening. On the inside, guests will be treated to the talents of the Kinderhook Garden Club whose members beautifully decorate the President's Home. Admission to the house is free, but reservations for house tours are a must. The tours are from 4:30 to 8:30 pm. For more information about Martin Van Buren National Historic Site or to schedule a reservation call (518) 758-9689 or visit their website at www.nps.gov/mava.

Warm Up at Olana
Olana State Historic Site will host Holiday House Tours in December on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The final tour begins at 3 pm. Please call for information on family tours. Holiday tours emphasize paintings of Mexican locales and the objects Church brought back from his winter trips to Mexico, as well as the holiday traditions he would have witnessed. Then on Saturday, December 8 warm up with friends and neighbors in the sunset backdrop at Olana's 3rd Annual Holiday Bonfire. The event begins at 4 pm. For more information about Olana State Historic Site call (518) 828-0135 or visit their website at www.olana.org.

Attend a Performance
The Taconic Hills Performing Arts Center will feature fun for the entire family in presenting Michael Cooper's "Masked Marvels and Wondertales", mime, storytelling, physical theater and comedy on Saturday, December 8 at 2:00 pm. A master storyteller, poet and first-rate comedian, Cooper's original "Wondertales" posses joy, intrigue and portrays an incredible sense of adventure. For tickets or more information about Taconic Hills Performing Arts Center call (518) 325-0447 or visit their website at www.taconichills.k12.ny.us/community/pac.

See a Play
The Copake Theatre Company will feature "Cyrano", Walking the Dog Theater's acclaimed production of the classic "Cyrano de Bergerac," through December 9 at the Copake Grange. Cyrano is a fresh and playful adaptation of the classic Cyrano de Bergerac. This recent adaptation holds all the magic of the original play. The story stays intact with all its humor, romance, and tragedy but the play is pared down and executed by the skills of only 3 actors. There is love, there is violence, there is poetry and laughter. Enjoy Christmas at Clermont
Clermont State Historic Site will feature a number of events in December. On Saturday, December 8 and Sunday, December 9 from 11 am to 4 pm Clermont will feature Christmas at Clermont Open House. Bring the entire family to take in the historic mansion richly decorated for a French Empire Christmas. Visitors will enjoy seeing two floors of the historic mansion house. Then on Saturday, December 15 from 3 to 6 pm enjoy a Christmas-themed, guided tour of Clermont in the warm glow of holiday lighting. Afterwards, share some holiday spirit with your loved ones over a bonfire and Christmas treats in the mansion's back yard. For more information about Clermont State Historic Site call (518) 537-4240 or visit their website at www.friendsofclermont.org.

Take a Winter Walk in Valatie
On Friday, December 14 the Village of Valatie will hold its annual Winter Walk in Valatie from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.  Enjoy storytelling, musicians, a performance by the Ghent Band starting at 6:15 pm, face painters, carolers, refreshments and a silent auction, hayrides down Main Street and Santa Claus arrives at 6:30 pm.  The event is sponsored by the Valatie Economic Redevelopment Association.  For more information about the Village of Valatie call (518) 758-9806 or visit their website at www.valatievillage.com.

Attend a Special Event at the Winery

Listen to Holiday Carols
