Take a Winter Walk on Warren Street
Get ready for a Winter Walk on Warren Street on Saturday, December 6 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Hudson's main street will be transformed into a winter wonderland, as the Hudson Opera House presents "A Winter Walk on Warren Street". This eagerly-awaited event kicks off the holiday season in historic Hudson. Always held on the first Saturday in December, this festive holiday celebration is now in its 12th year and become a premier event in the Hudson Valley. Winter Walk features dancers, storytellers, and musicians performing in shop windows, horse-drawn carriage rides, live reindeer and a Santa Parade. Groups of carolers stroll the streets, along with the walking Grandfather Clock, the Gingerbread Boy and other characters. There is much to see and do. Visit the Yuletide Fair and Gingerbread House Auction
On Saturday, December 6, Hawthorne Valley School will host the 32nd annual Yuletide Fair from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The event will feature craft vendors, great food, music, puppet show and the live gingerbread auction. Admission is free. Enjoy a Holiday House Tour
Visit Olana State Historic Site for Christmas with the Churches, a look at how the family spent the holiday at home. Hear oldest son Frederic Joseph's letter to Santa Claus to find out just what gifts the children wished for, and hear what other family and visitors wrote about the experience. The tours will be held on December 5, 12, 19 and 26 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Tickets are $9 for adults and children under 12 are free. Visit Clermont at Christmas
Clermont State Historic Site will bring favorite Christmas morning traditions to children on Saturday and Sunday, December 6 & 7 at "A Child's Christmas". Designed for children ages 3 to 6 (Saturday) and 7 to 11 (Sunday), this program gives families a chance to share in a nostalgic Christmas celebration, filled with traditions of the Livingston family who called Clermont home. Tickets are $12 for children and $2 per family member accompanying a child. Families will begin at 10:00 am with a stocking-foot tour of the mansion, which is transformed for the holidays. The tour heads into the library, where a costumed story-teller will teach children about historic Christmas traditions and read aloud 'Twas the Night Before Christmas. The program will conclude by 11:00 am and then open to the public for tours from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Enjoy some Holiday Cheer in Old Austerlitz
The Austerlitz Historical Society will present a Holiday Sing at the Historic Austerlitz Church on Route 22 on Sunday, December 7 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Join your neighbors in song and holiday cheer as we kick off the holiday season. The church will be seasonally decorated and refreshments will follow. Everything from Idelsohn's "Hava Nagila" to Irving Berlin's "White Christmas" while sharing in the warmth of the season. Walking the Dog Theater will feature Charles Dickens, "A Christmas Carol", December 6-21 at Space 360 in Hudson. This seasonal favorite creates the experience of Charles Dickens' tour of New England, when the author performed his famous story for American audiences. David Anderson, who performed the story last year with musical accompaniment by Jonathan Talbott. dramatizes the story in an intimate setting of Space 360. The Ghent Playhouse will feature the Pantoloons in an original production of "Jack and the Beanstalk" through Sunday, December 14. A Pantoloon's production at Thanksgiving has now become a holiday tradition in Columbia County, with cross-dressing jokes, political jokes and much schtick. "Jack and the Beanstalk" is the ninth production by the Pantoloons in Columbia County. The Pantoloons productions are for children 3 to 103 years and audience participation is encouraged. Enjoy Candlelight Night in Kinderhook
On Friday, December 12 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm, the Kinderhook Village will come alive for the annual Candlelight Night. Luminaries will light your way through the Village to enjoy a little Holiday Cheer. Stroll along to see what the local merchants have to offer or take a horse drawn wagon ride. Come see Santa, holiday carolers, and more. Bring a dozen of your favorite cookies to be judged in the annual cookie contest. Don't miss teen night upstairs at the Village Hall. Stroll the Streets of Valatie for the annual Winter Walk
Main Street Valatie comes to life on Friday, December 19 for the annual Winter Walk. The festivities will begin at 5:00 pm with a rousing parade beginning at the Valatie Firehouse, and ending up on Main Street by the Valatie Medical Arts building. An old fashioned hayride will begin following the parade and the houses along this route will be entered in a house decorating contest. From one end of the street to the other, the Village will be chock full of activities, music, store specials, food, great entertainment and merriment.
