The Ghent Playhouse will feature "Wait Until Dark" through
February 4. "Wait Until Dark," which opened on
Broadway in 1966 was later made into a popular film with
Audrey Hepburn and Alan Arkin. Frederick Knott's play is
an innovative and highly entertaining thriller, filled with
suspense. The play runs on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00
pm and Sundays at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $12 for Playhouse
members and $15 for the general public. This production is

Learn About Groundhog's Day
Take your kids to learn about Groundhog's
Day! Taconic State Park will discuss the ever-fascinating
characteristics and habits of the burrowing species of the
east and the mountain-dwelling species in the west, and figure
out who's who in the largest of the squirrel family. The
discussion will be held on Saturday, February 3 from 1:00

Enjoy Cabaret Music
Back by popular demand, the Spencertown Academy will feature
Lumiri Tubo on Saturday, February 10 at 6:00 pm. The audience
who heard Ms. Tubo perform at the Academy last March simply
couldn't get enough - even after three encores - and immediately
began lobbying for a return engagement. Tubo has been wowing
audiences and critics around the country with her soulful
and heartfelt renditions of contemporary, jazz, blues and

The Taconic Hills Performing Arts Center will feature sisters,
Katryna and Nerissa Nields on Saturday, February 17 at 8:00
pm. The sisters remain a favorite in the Northeast folk music
scene. Their career has encompassed many styles of music,
beginning with folk-quasi-punk-alternative-rock returning
to folk. They are a perennial favorite at Falcon Ride Folk

Attend the Hudson Valley Cheese Festival
Verdigris Art & Tea will
host the 2007 Hudson Valley Cheese Festival on Sunday,
February 18 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. Come and celebrate the
fine wines and great cheese from the Hudson Valley, and
sample some exceptional foods coming out of Columbia County
farms and restaurants. The afternoon will benefit the Columbia

the Arts will be featuring the "Annual

Take a Winter Hike
Burn off some of that winter break energy on a short hike
at Olana State Historic Site featuring one of the best views
in the Hudson Valley. You will explore the Ridge Road trail
where recent view restoration affords unimpeded views west
of the Catskills. The hike will take place on Thursday, February
22 at 1:00 pm. Dress for the weather. Children are welcome
and should be prepared to walk about one mile. For more information

Attend a Book Reading
Columbia County
Historical Society Distinguished Author Series presents noted
journalist and essayist for Time magazine and other publications,
Lance Morrow. Morrow, a Spencertown resident, will be speaking
on his new book, "Encounters with 50 years of American
Presidents, from Dwight David Eisenhower to George W. Bush.
The event will be held on Saturday, February 24 at St. Peter's
Presbyterian Church in Spencertown. The lecture will be presented
at 4:00 pm followed by a "Meet the Author" cocktail
reception until 6:00 pm. The cost is $35 per person or $20

Fresh from their appearances on NPR, Amelia Piano Trio members
Rieko Alzawa, Anthea Kreston and Jason Duckles return to
the Hudson Opera House to perform trios by Debussy and Beethoven,
along with contemporary works by Meredith Monk and Daron
Hagen. The Amelia Piano Trio is among the most exciting young
chamber ensembles to appear in the last decade. These are
extraordinary musicians not to be missed! The performance
will be held on Saturday, February 24 at 8:00 pm. Tickets
