Attend Family Fest
The Columbia County Fairgrounds will
host Family Fest on Sunday, July 2 in celebration of Independence
Day. Enjoy free children’s rides, climbing wall, arts
and crafts, pony rides, hay maze, live music and fireworks.
The gates open at 3:00 pm and fireworks are at 9:30 pm. For

Celebrate Independence Day the Old Fashioned
Way
On Tuesday, July 4, Clermont State
Historic Site will celebrate Independence Day with fun, food,
games, and music the Founding Fathers themselves might recognize. The
event will begin at 12:00 pm and end at 10:00 pm, with performances
running from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. For a cost of only
$7 per vehicle, families will be HYPERLINK "http://www.tomhanford.com" \t "_blank" welcomed
to the grounds to share in the activities and hear music
from the 18th and 19th centuries. Attendees will also be
able to view the Saugerties fireworks display. For more information

Attend a Parade
The Kinderhook Business and
Professional Association will host the annual People’s
Parade on Tuesday, July 4. The parade kicks off at 11:00
am from Rothermel Park in Kinderhook and will be held rain
or shine. Make your own float. Decorate your car, stroller,
wagon, garden tractor, lawn mower or bike. Anything you
can push or ride, decorate it with good old American Pride!
Wear your red, white and blue. They need you and your patriotic
spirit too! Spirit of all ages is welcome. Everyone is
invited to participate or bring a chair to relax and watch

Strawberry Shortcake Celebration
The Shaker Museum and Library will
host the Annual Strawberry Shortcake Celebration on Tuesday,
July 4 from 9:00 am to Noon. The day will begin with a strawberry
shortcake breakfast and ceremonial reading of the Declaration
of Independence by Assemblyman Patrick Manning. Children’s
activities will include flag making, face painting, and parade

The Mac-Haydn Theatre will feature “Funny
Girl”, a play about the story of Vaudeville and Follies
Star Comedienne Fanny Brice. “Funny Girl” touches
the highlights of Fanny Brice’s life, with typical
Fanny humor and songs that both show off her stage style
and also help tell the story. “Funny Girl” will
run July 6 through 16. Tickets are $24.50 and $23.50; $23.50

The U.S. Hot Rod Monster Truck
Summer Nationals will be held on July 10-12 at Lebanon
Valley Speedway. The event begins at 8:00 pm each night.

Summer Theater Program for Children
The 13th Annual Summerstage 2006
will be held July 10 through August 6 from 9:00 am to 3:00
pm at Stageworks/Hudson. There are two sessions, one for
ages 7-12 and one for ages 13-18. Children ages 7-12 will
enjoy workshops in acting, playwriting, movement and improvisation.
The session culminates with a fully staged performance for
family, friends, neighbors and the community. Children ages
13-18 will collaborate daily with peers and professional
theater artists, focusing on playwriting. Arts Intensive
builds to a fully-staged production, written by the group.

will hold a children’s day camp July 18-20 from 10:00
am – 2:30 pm. Bring your children to learn about Columbia

Visit Art Omi
Come see the work produced by 30
international artists-in-residence during their three week
residency at Art Omi. The Open Studios will take place on

Attend the Blueberry Festival
The Austerlitz Historical Society
will hold the 7th Annual Blueberry Festival on Sunday, July
30, 2006, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the grounds of Old
Austerlitz on Route 22. The Blueberry Festival celebrates
the delicious, healthful fruit that abounds in the local
hills and reaches peak season in late July. The festival
features 19th century craft demonstrations, music, artists,
antiques, children’s entertainment, a blueberry recipe
contest, blueberry pancake breakfast and baked goods abounding
with blueberries. Festival entrance fee is $5 for adults.
Children under 12 are free. Tickets for the Blueberry Pancake
Breakfast, sold from 9 to 11:30 a.m., are $5 for adults and
