See a Performance
Come and enjoy adult contemporary folk music by Patty Larkin on Saturday, August 4. Patty Larkin is described as a "guitar crazed songwriter" since her emergence on the acoustic music scene. Larkin has released ten albums and performed at hundreds of concerts and her critics and fans agree that her sound crafting, wizardly guitar playing, songwriting and production skills are unparalleled. The doors open at 6:30 pm and the concert begins at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $18 for students and $20 for adults. Visit a Photography Display
The Columbia County Museum in Kinderhook will feature the photography display: "Looking for Work": The Industrial Architecture of Columbia County now through November 25. Looking for Work features twenty large-scale color photographs of mills, factories, bridges, industrial buildings of Columbia County by landscape photographer Anita Giraldo. Giraldo's stunning contemporary photographs celebrates the publication of industrial historian Peter Stott's long awaited book, Looking for Work: The Industrial Archeology of Columbia County, NY. The museum is open Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm and Sunday from noon to 4 pm. See a Show
The Mac-Haydn Theatre will feature "Singin' in the Rain" from August 9-12 and August 15-19. This play has the most famous dance scene ever in the most requested show of the season. Attend the Peach Festival
Olana State Historic Site will host the annual Peach Festival on Saturday, August 11 at 12:00 pm. Join them on the family farm for a day of old-fashioned family fun with historic games, music and walking tours of the farm. Included with $5.00 per vehicle grounds fee. Listen to the Blues Jam
The Spencertown Academy will host the annual Blue Barbeque on Saturday, August 11 at 6:00 pm. Feast on authentic, slow-cooked southern barbeque and cold beer from Chatham Brewing. Then dance the night away under the stars to the hot sounds of the Blues Jam unleashed. Tickets are $75. Celebrate Steamboat Days at Clermont
Clermont State Historic Site will be celebrating the 200th anniversary of the maiden voyage of Robert Fulton's North River Steamboat. Clermont will celebrate this landing with a two-day steamboat extravaganza on Saturday, August 18 from 11 am to 10 pm and Sunday, August 19 from 11 am to 5 pm. The public is invited to this celebratory event and will feature steamboat demonstrations, re-enactors, fireworks, fun for the kids, educational talks, vendors, traditional music and demonstrations of all kinds. See a Play
Stageworks/Hudson will feature "Martha Mitchell Calling" August 22 through September 9. The play tells the tale of the outrageous Martha Mitchell, a Southern borne debutante who married John Mitchell, Richard Nixon's Attorney General. Play writer Annette Miller's portrayal of this historic character reveals the power of how one woman's influence can change the course of history during turbulent political times. Attend the Songwriters Festival and Concert
Columbia Arts Team will host the 2nd Annual Songwriters Festival on Saturday August 25 from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. Come and learn from talented professionals. Sessions will include song critique and Q&A and will feature Grammy Award winning songwriter Julie Gold. After learning from these wonderful professionals they will hit the stage at 7:00 pm for a live concert. Performers will include Julie Gold, Jerry Giddens and Michael Packard of country rock bands Walking Wounded and Gaucho Gill. Also, Michael Eck, songwriter and WAMC radio host and Liv Cummins of Columbia Arts Team. Tickets for the concert are $25 at the door or $20 for teens/seniors. Hudson Valley Academy of Performing Arts will host a Health & Fitness Faire on Sunday, August 26, noon to 3:00 pm. Attend the Columbia County Fair
End your summer fun by attending the Columbia County Fair. The Fair will open on August 29 at 5:00 pm and run through Labor Day. Enjoy great food, animals, exhibits, vendors, live music, midway, fireworks, demolition derby and much more. The Fair is jam-packed with a fantastic line-up of entertainment and non-stop action.
