Reserve Now!- Legislative Breakfast - April 8
Congressman Chris Gibson, Senator Steve Saland, Assemblymen Marc Molinaro, Peter Lopez and Steve McLaughlin and Columbia County Board of Supervisors Chairman Roy Brown will speak at the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce annual Legislative Breakfast.  This event offers Columbia County’s legislators an opportunity to outline their plans for 2011 and beyond to the local business community.  The breakfast will be held in the Student Center at Columbia-Greene Community College from 7:30 - 9:00 am.  The cost is $18.

Business Leadership Workshop - April 5

Workshop will be held April 5 at Space 360 from 7:30 - 9:30 am.  Business owners often find themselves caught up in solving immediate challenges and putting out fires -- activities that take them away from planning for growth and success.  Finding a solution to work on your business -- and not just in it -- can be the difference between declining and accelerating growth.  Please join The Columbia County Chamber of Commerce and The Alternative Board® (TAB) for an interactive workshop that will give you tools to move your business forward in today’s challenging economy.  This workshop, centered on TAB’s Strategic Business Leadership program, will help you: Position your company for growth;  Identify new markets and sales channels;  Develop top-line revenue growth strategies and integrated sales/marketing programs that deliver results. Workshop cost is $10 for Chamber members, $20 for non-members (All proceeds to benefit Leadership Columbia County.) Women's Networking Luncheon - April 13
Kozel's Restaurant will host the Annual Spring Women's Networking Luncheon on Wednesday, April 13 from 12:00 - 1:30 pm. Additional networking will be available until 2:00 pm. Networking luncheons provide a great opportunity for area business people to promote their business. Kozel's is located at 1006 State Route 66 in Ghent. 22nd Annual Golf Tournament - May 23

Get your golf clubs ready for the 22nd Annual Columbia County Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament on Monday, May 23, 2011 at the Copake Country Club.  The day will start with registration and lunch provided by Copake Country Club beginning at 11:30 am with a shotgun start at 12:30 pm.  Reservations include golf, cart rental, lunch, open bar cocktail hour and dinner.  Singles or foursomes can register by contacting the Chamber.  The early bird rate of $125.00 is available until May 13.

Big Brothers Big Sisters will be having a Bowl For Kids Sake Bowlathon on Saturday April 2nd from 7-9:30 pm at the Catskill Hoe Bowl Lanes.  Bowl for Kids Sake is the national Big Brothers Big Sisters signature fundraiser and all money raised will remain in Columbia and Greene Counties, and will be used for programs that directly serve children. How can you be involved?  Be a Sponsor - There are sponsorships levels ranging from $250-$2,500;  Be a Team Captain- Gather three or four of your friends and have a fun night!;  Be a Bowler-Raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters, have a great night with your friends.  Be a friend-Donate to your favorite bowler or team.  For more information or to register please call our office at 518.943.4450.

Saturday April 16th from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm.  Our local radio stations are working to fill The Columbia-Greene Humane Society Pet Food Pantry.  The Pantry is available to any Columbia or Greene County resident who is having trouble affording pet food. The idea behind the pantry was to help the pet owners so they would not have to give up the pet if they could not afford to feed it. 98.5 The Cat, Cruisin' 93.5, and 1230 WHUC will be at The Hudson Shop Rite collecting pet food for the shelter pantry. A collection box will be at the store on Healy Blvd a week before the drive for people to donate early if they like.

RV and Boat Wash for the United Way.  Don’t start spring with a dirty RV or BOAT!  On Saturday, May 21st, bring your Recreational Vehicles and your Boats to get a great outside scrubbing for the season.  The Boat N RV Warehouse at Exit 21 off I-87 in Coxsackie is the host for the United Way of Columbia and Greene Counties’ first fund raiser of the year.  Hot dogs, cold beverages, kids “bouncy” and more!  The cost is an “at will” contribution to the United Way of Columbia and Greene Counties. The Basilica Hudson launches a new season with Rudy Wurlitzer & Will Oldham on Thursday, April 28.  Doors open at 6:00 pm and the reading begins at 7:00 pm.  Suggested donation of $5.  All ages welcome.  An evening reading of renowned novelist and screenwriter, Rudy Wurlitzer’s 1984 novel Slow Fade by singer songwriter, folk music legend, Will Oldham (Palace Brothers, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy). This event supports the release of Slow Fade, the first in a new line of alternative audio books, by Chicago’s
seminal independent record label, Drag City. Both Wurlitzer and Oldham will participate in this unique
literary event. The reading will be accompanied by guitar player Ben Chasny (Six Organs of Admittance)
