Attend the Buy Local Business Expo

Hudson, NY - Come and see, taste and hear all that Columbia and Greene Counties have to offer at the Buy Local Business Expo! The Expo is being held on Thursday, October 26 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Columbia-Greene Community College . The Expo will highlight over 70 local businesses in Columbia and Greene Counties and will also include a food tasting, raffle prizes and much more!

The Expo is free and open to the public. The doors open at 4:00 pm. At 6:00 pm the Columbia County Chamber will honor the Ginsberg Family with the Chairman's Lifetime Achievement Award. The award not only recognizes the commercial success of the Ginsberg family but also their energetic support over the years of a wide variety of community organizations. In recognizing these impressive achievements, Chamber Chairman Rick Bianchi says, “The company has made a profound impact on our community. For three generations, this family business has been responsible for providing employment opportunities for our residents while also contributing a tremendous amount of time and money to community organizations.”  The sold out 2006 Buy Local Business Expo will run until 7:00 pm.

The Buy Local Business Expo is being held to highlight the many great businesses that you can find right here at home. The Columbia and Greene County Chambers spend so much energy on helping people to buy local because it makes such a large impact on our economy. Economic studies have shown that the money from a local purchase is spent another five to seven times in the local economy. These studies state that the money “multiplies” because local merchants spend the money from the local purchases with other local merchants. This money is spent again and again locally. Encouraging people to buy local may be the most important thing that we do at the Chamber of Commerce.

We encourage you to attend the Expo to sample the local food tasting with a range to pleasure any attendee. Food exhibitors will include: Beth's Farm Kitchen, Bezalel Gables Fine Catering & Events, Chatham Village Cake Shoppe, Georgia Ray's Kitchen, Hawthorne Valley Farm, Holmquest Farms, Lippera's at the Chatham House, Mexican Radio, Micosta Enterprises, Office Deli, Renner's Creative Celebrations, Inc., The Stewart House, Tierra Farm, and Yorkshire Farms Restaurant.

A number of exhibitors will be raffling off prizes throughout the Expo at their individual booths. There will also be three packages focused on local lodging, dining and entertainment. The packages cover different areas of Columbia County and are themed the “City, Country and Ski Packages”. This is a great way to explore the County while experiencing the buy local spirit!

The “City Package” will feature an overnight stay at The Country Squire Bed & Breakfast, tickets to a 2007 mid-week performance at Stageworks/Hudson and lunch for two at Mexican Radio. The “Country Package” will feature a two-night stay at The Inn at Silver Maple Farm, tickets to the Ghent Playhouse, and brunch for two at Lippera's at the Chatham House. The “Ski Package” will feature an overnight stay at Silvanus Lodge, lift tickets to Catamount Ski Area and lunch for two at Swiss Hutte.

The Buy Local Business Expo, produced by the Columbia and Greene County Chambers of Commerce is the largest collaborative business-to-business trade show in the area. The Expo gives companies the opportunity to display their products and services to the area's key decision makers, buyers and business leaders. The Expo provides a professional yet relaxed atmosphere, and will feature over 70 local exhibitors.
