The Bank of Greene County to Host Chamber Business After Hours

Hudson, NY – Join the Chamber to celebrate the Bank of Greene County's grand opening of their Chatham branch during the Business After Hours on Thursday, January 31. The event will run from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. The Bank of Greene County is located at 2631 Route 66 in Chatham.

The Bank of Greene County was chartered in 1889 at the Building and Loan Association of Catskill, NY.  In 1974 the bank, then known as the Catskill Savings & Loan Association, changed its name to Greene County Savings Bank, and opened its first branch office in Coxsackie.  A new, larger, Coxsackie office opened in 2006.

The bank opened branches in Cairo in 1988 (which was replaced with larger quarters in 2005), Greenville in 1997, Tannersville in 2000, Westerlo (Albany Co.) in 2001, and most recently, Hudson in 2005, and Catskill Commons and Greenport in 2007. The new Chatham branch opened recently.

In 1999, with the introduction of a public stock offering and the founding of their parent company, Greene County Bancorp, Inc. (NASDAQ-GCBC), the bank became known as The Bank of Greene County.  At the same time it also purchased its current Administrative and Executive office building on Main St. , in Catskill.  In 2004 the bank formed a wholly owned subsidiary, Greene County Commercial Bank, whose sole purpose is to accept deposits from local municipalities.

Their primary mission is to serve the financial needs of their communities, its citizens and its businesses, by offering the latest in banking products and technology at reasonable prices.  At the same time, they strive to offer friendly and high quality personal service that is above any of their competitors.  Their success in delivering on their mission is supported by their bank now holding the No. 1 market share of bank deposits in Greene County.

They will continue making the investment in people and technology to support the trust that has been placed with them throughout their market area. For more information about The Bank of Greene County call 943-3700 or visit their website at www.thebankofgreenecounty.com.
