The
Bank of Greene County to Host Chamber Business After Hours
Hudson,
NY – Join the Chamber to celebrate the Bank of Greene County's
grand opening of their Chatham branch during the Business
After Hours on Thursday, January 31. The event will run from
5:00 to 7:00 pm. The Bank of Greene County is located at 2631
Route 66 in Chatham.
The
Bank of Greene County was chartered in 1889 at the Building
and Loan Association of Catskill, NY. In 1974 the bank,
then known as the Catskill Savings & Loan Association,
changed its name to Greene County Savings Bank, and opened
its first branch office in Coxsackie. A new, larger,
Coxsackie office opened in 2006.
The
bank opened branches in Cairo in 1988 (which was replaced
with larger quarters in 2005), Greenville in 1997, Tannersville
in 2000, Westerlo (Albany Co.) in 2001, and most recently,
Hudson in 2005, and Catskill Commons and Greenport in 2007.
The new Chatham branch opened recently.
In
1999, with the introduction of a public stock offering and
the founding of their parent company, Greene County Bancorp,
Inc. (NASDAQ-GCBC), the bank became known as The Bank of Greene
County. At the same time it also purchased its current
Administrative and Executive office building on Main St. ,
in Catskill. In 2004 the bank formed a wholly owned
subsidiary, Greene County Commercial Bank, whose sole purpose
is to accept deposits from local municipalities.
