Chamber
Supports Initiative to Help Chambers Affected by Hurricane
Katrina
Hudson
, NY – The Columbia County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors
will support the American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE)
initiative to help Chambers of Commerce in the Gulf Coast
Region that were devastated by Hurricane Katrina. ACCE asked
Chambers across the nation to donate $1 per Chamber member.
The Columbia County Chamber will donate $850.
ACCE
created this Chamber-to-Chamber disaster relief fund to help
Chambers in need after Hurricane Katrina ripped through a
number of communities along the Mississippi and Louisiana
Gulf Coasts . The Chambers that experienced the worst elements
of the storm lost Chamber buildings, company records, and
significant portions of their business communities, among
other things. Eighteen Chambers were affected by Hurricane
Katrina. Money is being collected with the purpose of setting
up temporary occupancy for the affected chambers and providing
them with the resources to meet their members' and communities
needs, going forward.
The
Columbia County Chamber of Commerce, with its 850 members,
is the leading voice of business in Columbia County , providing
advocacy, promotional and benefit solutions for its members.
