Chatham
Village Gets Ready for Winterfest
Hudson,
NY - Winterfest is almost here! Chatham Village becomes
a winter wonderland on Friday, December 21, 5 – 8 pm. Just
as in our memories of days long past,
window displays will twinkle with lights and delights. Stores
will offer shoppers cookies and other seasonal treats. Entertainers
will be on the streets and you may well find yourself singing
along with the carolers. Take a magical ride in a antique
tractor-drawn stagecoach and then visit jolly old Santa.
Chatham, the retail center of Northern Columbia County, has
a wide variety of creative and wonderful shops and businesses.
Unlike the cookie cutter shops at malls, Chatham Village
shops offer unique and hard-to-find items. From baking
supplies (Main Street Grainery) to vegan footwear (Cow Jones
Industrials) to fine jewelry ( R.H. VanAlstynes) to warm socks
and hats (Brown's Emporium, Banner Clothing) to interesting
antiques (Welcome Home, Fork and Pencil), downtown Chatham
has it all. Need to stuff a stocking? The Moose
will be on the loose – The Chocolate Moose, that is – with
candies and treasures for all tastes. American Pie,
The Handcrafters and Native Clay all have traditional gifts
as well as extraordinary treasures. Chatham
Makes Scents offers a wide variety of soothing, practical
gifts. Don't miss Multi-Kids as you shop for every child on
your list. Books new, used, rare or otherwise are awaiting
you in Chatham (Chatham Bookstore, Dodie's Hock-It Books,
and Berkshire Books).
Chatham Wines and Liquors will feature a wine and cheese tasting.
Park Row Gallery, one of Chatham's treasures, will feature
an exhibit of the photographs of Michel Arnaud.
"Don we now our gay apparel." A contest for best holiday decorations
will be ongoing throughout the village. Many homes and businesses
will be decked out in their finery for all to enjoy as they
visit historic Chatham Village.
Entertainment for all ages will be available. Just four
days before Santa is due to arrive, older folks may simply
want to finish up their shopping in a relaxed, happy atmosphere.
Children will be treated to stagecoach rides, street
entertainment, visiting Santa, and having their faces painted
with seasonal designs. The pocket lady will be strolling the
village giving out treats to good little girls and boys.
Don't forget to buy a raffle ticket for "the gift of Chatham."
A huge collection of gift certificates and merchandise
will be awarded to one lucky winner. See the prize in
the CBA window next to Re-Wraps! Tickets are available at
Welcome Home, Native Clay and Cow Jones Industrials with all
earnings going to the Chatham Business Alliance.
Drawing to be held Dec. 21st, 8 pm.
Chatham Village is home to many fine restaurants. Take a break
from your shopping, sit down to a quick bite or to a multi-course
meal. Carolyn's Village Restaurant offers great Friday night
specials from gigantic hamburgers and fries to pot roast with
sky-high mashed potatoes. Sit on the enclosed porch
at The Blue Plate Restaurant, order the award-winning meat
loaf, and watch the world go by as you savor every bite. Lippera's
at the Chatham House, crystal apple award winner, treats its
diners to a scrumptious meal with out-of-this-world desserts.
Whatever your taste, whatever your budget, Chatham is sure
to please!
