Recipient of the 22nd Annual Crystal Apple Award

The Columbia County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Helsinki Hudson as the recipient of the 22nd Annual Crystal Apple Award. The Gala was held on Friday, March 11, 2011 at Columbia Golf & Country Club in Claverack.  Over 100 attendees enjoyed a fabulous dinner crafted by the staff at Columbia Golf & Country Club.  A video created by Midhudsonmedia highlighted the 2010 accomplishments of the six finalists and a Glass crystal apple was presented to Helsinki Hudson by Chamber Chairman Michael Sullivan of Crawford & Associates Engineering and Land Surveying PC.

Helsinki has created an enduring home for artists, audiences and food lovers alike.  The architectural creative use of the industrial 1800’s building complex was accomplished using all local builders and artists with an eye toward providing the best possible theatrical experience for both musicians and audiences alike.  The building was reworked using green architectural techniques and creative reuse.  The new Helsinki Hudson houses a performance space, a dancehall/ballroom event space, outdoor dining, artist green rooms with showers and lounge space, recording facilities, offices and now a terrific new restaurant simply called, The Restaurant.  Helsinki continues its commitment to contributing to the quality of the community by cultivating connections between all ethnicities, ages and experience to reflect the culture and human spirit through innovative programming.

The other finalists included: American Glory BBQ, Columbia County Council on the Arts, First Niagara Bank, Hudson-Chatham Winery and The Chatham Film Club.  The annual award is presented to a Chamber member business to recognize an extraordinary contribution to economic progress, community improvement, and the quality of life in Columbia County during 2010.
