Take a Winter Walk on Warren Street in Hudson

Winter Walk, produced by the Hudson Opera House will be held on Saturday, December 4 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm will be held on Warren Street and beyond in Hudson.  A holiday street festival featuring beautifully decorated windows, ” the Santa Parade, live reindeer, street characters, and music and dance galore.  A chance to preview all the new businesses and get an early start on holiday shopping.  Lots of fun, from the lighting of the historic Hudson-Athens Lighthouse and the ringing of the First Presbyterian Church carillon to start things off, to the glow of fireworks atop Promenade Hill at the end! Participate in "The Twelve Tastes of Egg Nog" BeLo 3rd
Remember to stroll BeLo 3rd the night of Winter Walk and take part in "The Twelve Tastes of Egg Nog".  You don't want to miss the Eggnog Challenge that will take place along Warren Street BeLo 3rd on the evening of Winter Walk, Saturday, December 4 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. The challenge will be begin at Tommy's Luxury Nail Spa & Boutique and will run down to PM Wine Bar.  Ballots will be supplied to vote for your favorite eggnog.  This is family friendly and all will be able to participate.  For more information about BeLo 3rd, visit their website at www.belo3rd.com

Take a Holiday House Tour

Olana Holiday House Tours are Friday-Sunday, December 3- January 2, 2011, 11am-4pm Last tour starts promptly at 3pm, House closed December 25 and January 1.   All Ages $9/adult; $8/students and seniors, free for children under 12 or members of The Olana Partnership.  Visit for Christmas with the Churches; learn how the family spent the holiday at home. Hear oldest son Frederic Joseph's letter to Santa Claus, and hear what other family and visitors wrote about the experience. Enjoy Candlelight Night in Kinderhook

Friday, December 10th from 5:30 - 8:30 pm in the Village of Kinderhook, luminaries will light your way through the Village.  Stroll along to visit local merchants or take a horse drawn wagon ride. Don’t miss the live animals, Santa Claus, Sax o Claus, Tots the Clown, face painting, holiday carolers… activities for everyone!  Bring the kids for Teen Night upstairs at the Village Hall with music and games all evening! Take a tour of Kinderhook’s historic churches and library.  Browse the holiday boutique and new Runway Style Show at the James Vanderpoel house.  Join the 5K Fun Walk / Run. kicking off at 7pm in the Village Square. A night filled with food, fun and entertainment.

Stroll Valatie for their Annual Winter Walk

The Valatie Winter Walk December 11th 6:00 - 9:00 pm *Snow Date December 12th 6-9pm* PARADE steps off at 6!  Come stroll along Main St. Valatie and enjoy live music, face painting and a petting zoo. There will also be a living nativity, and Santa at The Valatie Community Theatre. Don't forget the hay wagon rides where you can judge the house decorating contest. The night promises to be magical, so don't miss out on all the fun!

Celebrate Winterfest in Chatham

Come and enjoy the Annual Winterfest in the Village of Chatham on Sunday, December 12 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.  The Village of Chatham becomes a winter wonderland just as in our memories of days long past.  See twinkling window displays, Santa Claus in the mini mall by American Pie, holiday music, wagon rides, cookie contest at Kinderhook Bank, storytime at Beach & Bartolo, free movie (must have a ticket), and more.  Celebrate the holidays the way they used to be, wandering through festive, one-of-a-kind shops with friends and family.  Make an afternoon of it and include lunch at one of Chatham's local restaurants.  For more information about Winterfest visit the Chatham Business Alliance website at www.chathambusinessalliance.org

Special Holiday Events

During the weekend of December 9-12 Columbia County Historical Society will host many special holiday events at The House of History. These events include an exhibit of  "Runway Style: Historic Fashions in Miniature", holiday shopping, live music, holiday book sale, adult gift tag printmaking workshop, drop-in crafts for children and an interactive reading of  'Twas the Night Before Christmas'.  The House of History will be open the following hours during Runway Style: Friday, December 10, 12-6, Saturday and Sunday December 11 & 12, 10-6. See a Holiday Show

Youth Holiday Workshop
Columbia Arts Team offers a Youth Holiday Theater Workshop on December 28-30, 2010, Tuesday - Thursday from 3:00 - 6:00 pm at the Copake Park Building.  CAT Kids Holiday Spectacular.  Young people ages 8 to 12 learn performing and playwriting skills as they create and rehearse their own musical in a three-day workshop free of charge.  On the last day, they perform their piece at the Spectacular for family and friends.  For more information visit Columbia Arts Team website at www.columbiaartsteam.org.
