4th Annual Holiday Craft Fair and Lunch

AJCF and Whittier will hold its 4th Annual holiday craft fair and wrap lunch on Thursday, December 8th  from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.  Lunch will be at 12:00 pm and the cost for lunch is $5.00.  Tickets will be sold at the front desk of Whittier.  Proceeds will benefit Hospice of Columbia County. 

Enjoy Candlelight Night in Kinderhook

Friday, December 9th from 5:30 - 8:30 pm in the Village of Kinderhook, luminaries will light your way through the Village.  Stroll along to visit local merchants or take a horse drawn wagon ride. Don’t miss the live animals, Santa Claus, Sax o Claus, Tots the Clown, face painting, holiday carolers… activities for everyone!  Bring the kids for Teen Night upstairs at the Village Hall and shorts for the little ones downstairs! Take a tour of Kinderhook’s historic homes & churches and library.  Browse the holiday market and book sale at the James Vanderpoel house. House tour tickets will be on sale at the James Vanderpoel House.  The Berry Farm will be selling holiday greens on the square.  For more information visit them at www.kinderhookbuiness.com.

Pianist, Jenny Lin - Benefit Concert

Saturday, December 10th at 8:00 pm the Hudson Opera House will have a benefit performance with pianist Jenny Lin, one of the most respected young pianists today, admired for her adventurous programming and charismatic stage presence.  A reception sponsored by Otto’s Market will follow the performance. Stroll Valatie for their Annual Winter Walk

The Valatie Winter Walk December 10th 6:00 - 9:00 pm *Snow Date December 11th 6-9pm* PARADE steps off at 6!  Come stroll along Main St. Valatie and enjoy live music, face painting, great bargains in all the shops and good things to eat. Visit Santa and Mrs. Claus. The night promises to be magical, so don't miss out on all the fun!

Celebrate Winterfest in Chatham

Come and enjoy the Annual Winterfest in the Village of Chatham on Sunday, December 11 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.  The Village of Chatham becomes a winter wonderland just as in our memories of days long past.  See twinkling window displays, Santa Claus in the mini mall by American Pie from 12:00 - 2:30 pm, holiday music, wagon rides, cookie contest at Kinderhook Bank, free movie "A Christmas Story at the Crandell Theatre at 1:00 pm, and much more.  Celebrate the holidays the way they used to be, wandering through festive, one-of-a-kind shops with friends and family.  Make an afternoon of it and include lunch at one of Chatham's local restaurants.  For more information about Winterfest visit the Chatham Business Alliance website at www.chathambusinessalliance.org

A Christmas Carol - The Musical

Shows are December 9, 10, 11, 16, 17 & 18.  Friday at 8:00 pm, Saturday at 2:00 pm & 8:00 pm (only one showing at 2:00 pm on December 10)- Sunday at 2:00 pm.  Director Gail Nadeem Helfer, Musical Director Jodie Jacque, Choreographer Deborah Langenfeld Anthony and Producer Michael Rivenburg. 

Charles Dickens’ classic gets the full Broadway treatment by the team of Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast), Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime, Seussical) and Mike Okrent (Crazy for You). This musical adaptation of a timeless story is told again with a heart warming musical score that appeals to all ages.  Tickets prices: Adults $18.00 – Seniors $15.00 - Students (w/valid ID) $12.00 – Children 12 and under $5.00

Take a Holiday House Tour

Olana Holiday House Tours are Friday-Sunday, December 3- January 2, 2011, 11am-4pm Last tour starts promptly at 3pm, House closed December 25 and January 1.   All Ages $9/adult; $8/students and seniors, free for children under 12 or members of The Olana Partnership.  Visit for Christmas with the Churches; learn how the family spent the holiday at home. Hear oldest son Frederic Joseph's letter to Santa Claus, and hear what other family and visitors wrote about the experience. Enjoy and Sing Handel's Messiah
On Saturday, December 17 at 7:00 pm at St. James Church in Chatham, Gwen Gould, Conductor with professional instrumental ensemble and Solos sung by entire sections!  Celebrate the season by singing the Christmas portion of Handel's Messiah (plus the Halleluia Chorus, of course) with family, friends and neighbors!  Lend us your voice!  Join them for this festive annual holiday tradition - listeners welcome too!  Scores are provided and light refreshments served.  $8 tickets in advance (online only) or $10 at the door.  Students are free.  For more information visit their website at www.columbiafestivalorchestra.org.

Listen to Retro-futuristic Take on Holiday Music
On Thursday, December 22 at 8:00 pm at Helsinki Hudson, Everett Bradley's Holidelic will perform.  Everett Bradley's Holdidelic debuted at New York's Joe's Pub and sold out there night after night. This holiday funk-tacular blends the influences of P-Funk, Sly Stone and other 1970's and ‘80's funk and soul bands.  This is holiday spirit like you've never seen it before! Holidelic explores the holidays, modern culture in a playful, loving, humorous performance that is hardly traditional but a whole lot of fun!  This is a show for all ... even for all ages with a little parental guidance! Ring in the New Year

On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, December 30 and 31 and January 1, the winery will be hosting its annual Bubbly Endings and Beginnings event. To toast the outgoing year and usher in the New Year – and to thank everyone who has supported the winery – we offer all our visitors this weekend a complimentary sparkling wine cocktail featuring our Hudson-Chatham Blanc de Blanc. We’ll have four different cocktails to choose from! Every day is a good day for sparkling wine, but New Year’s is especially good, so start it off right at the Hudson-Chatham Winery.  Along with the Blanc de Blanc and our other award-winning wines, the winery will have a great selection of Hudson Valley artisanal cheeses and other gourmet goodies if you’re looking to put together a great spread to ring out 2011 or ring in 2012.
