Chambers
Host “Educated Development Forum” at Catamount Ski Area
Hudson
, NY – The Columbia County and Southern Berkshire Chambers
of Commerce hosted an “Educated Development Forum” for their
members on Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at Catamount Ski Area.
Attendees heard details about an exciting Economic Development
project from developer Dale Salsman. Dale told local business
people how they can benefit from this first class condominium
project at the base of Catamount Ski Area. Please

Highlights
of the event included comments from Chamber Chairman Rick
Bianchi. Rick outlined the reasons the Chamber supports this
project. The Chamber believes:
It will bring additional visitors to the area. Particularly
families that are looking for a full week of accommodations.
It will significantly promote Columbia and Southern Berkshire
County as a destination to potential visitors outside of the
area.
It will generate property taxes that will benefit local municipalities
and local school districts.
It will provide employment opportunities for local residents
during construction and once the project is completed.
Leaders
of both Chambers have met with the developer and have encouraged
the use of local vendors whenever possible. The Chambers plan
to promote local businesses to condominium owners and guests.
Project
developer Dale Salsman spoke about key elements of this project
that will transform Catamount into a four season resort. This
resort will feature:
125 condominium resort rental suites that will be built in
three phases.
An effort to entice condominium owners and guests to
shop and visit local businesses and attractions.
A marketing effort that will target New York City and
Southern Connecticut residents.
A full-service four season experience for resort guests.
Dale
Salsman and the Catamount team are committed to addressing
all comments and suggestions from members of the community.
Share your ideas to help make this the best possible project
for our area.
