Celebrate the Season at Summerfest 2010

The Chatham Business Alliance will be sponsoring Summerfest 2010 in the historic Village of Chatham on Saturday July 10th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. You are invited to join merchants and area not-for-profits for a day of sales, information, raffles, music, and good eating.  Downtown merchants will have tables of great bargains on the sidewalk in front of their shops. Dozens of not-for-profit groups will share information about their causes. The Ghent Band will entertain everyone from the new gazebo on the Village Green from 12-2 pm. Tailgate or Enter in a Car Show
On Saturday, July 10th beginning at 10:00 am Hudson-Mohawk Mercedes-Benz will be holding a car show at the Henry Hudson Riverfront Park in Hudson. This year's theme will be "On the River" and will display Mercedes of all types and styles. Many of the cars will be vintage while others will be newer models that demonstrate the latest and greatest of "Mercedes Technology." There will be raffles, entertainment, a fancy hat contest, prizes for the best tailgate picnic setup and of course a great car show. There will be vehicles available to take members to the art and antique shops in Hudson and to the recently expanded Fireman's Museum. Registration begins at 10:00 am with judging to begin at noon. Enjoy a Delicious Locally Grown Dinner
Share the bounty of a summer feast with local food, live music, and a celebration of community. On Saturday, July 17th enjoy a memorable evening in the fields of Katchkie Farm under the stars with the best meal in the county. Join the members of Katchkie Farm and the Columbia Land Conservancy in Kinderhook, NY for a taste of the 100-Mile Menu and a wonderful evening in the fields. See a Classic Performance

Performance Spaces for the 21st Century and Walking the Dog Theater present sixteen performances of the quintessential American classic Our Town by Thornton Wilder. This Pulitzer Prize–winning drama is a classic, it is a snapshot of lives lived and what it means to be a community. The shows will be held from July 7 to August 1. Attend a Show
Mac-Haydn Theatre presents their most requested production Chicago during the month of July. Murderesses or merely stage-struck flappers? You decide in this show filled with excitement and Fosse dance. The production includes the well known songs"All That Jazz, Razzle Dazzle, Cell Block Tango, and Mr. Cellophane." Take a Self-Guided Walking Tour

The Village of Kinderhook has recently announced the publication of a walking tour brochure just in time for the summer season. The self guided walking tour titled “Discover Historic Kinderhook” features historic  information and architectural details on 22 sites within the Village of Kinderhook and 4 sites within a two mile radius of the Village center. For architecture enthusiasts, the walking tour features several fine examples of early Dutch, Greek Revival, Italianate and Carpenter Gothic  design –many accompanied with archival photographs.The tour brochure is available at Kinderhook retail establishments, Lindenwald, the Columbia County museum, the Village Hall of Kinderhook  and tourism kiosks throughout Columbia County. For more information please contact Sue Chiafullo at (518) 758-2944.

Attend Dinner and a Play

The Taconic Stage Company has planned another summer of music and comedy with dinner theater productions at the Lighthouse Marina on Copake Lake as well as the beautiful St. John in the Wilderness Church in Copake Falls. The production is called “Senior Moments”, an original musical comedy set in a Florida retirement community. Show dates are July 16, 17, 23, 24, 30 and 31 and Aug. 6 and 7 at Lighthouse Marina on Copake Lake. Dinner will begin at 7:00 pm and the show will premire at 8:00 pm. Enjoy the Blueberry Festival
The Blueberry Festival is always held the last Sunday in July - this year the Festival will be held Sunday, July 25, 2010 on the grounds of Old Austerlitz from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The event will feature early 19th Century craft demonstrations and wares, antiques, live music and entertainment for children, many different vendors and a variety of foods to feed the masses. There will be blueberries galore and a blueberry pancake breakfast. Festival Admission is $6 for adults and children under 12 get in for free. Children's Life and Games in the 18th Century

On Saturday July 24th children will have fun learning about the lives of children 200 years ago, while trying out their clothes and games. Come to the Clermont State Historic Site beginning at 11:00 am for a funfilled day for both children and parents. Recommended for children 7-12. Hudson Harborfest
The Harbor Fest takes place on four Saturdays beginning on July 31, and continuing on August 7, 21, and 28 from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm at the newly restored Henry Hudson Riverfront Park in beautiful downtown Hudson. TSL’s Harbor Fest brings live concerts performed by a wide variety of artists from as far away as Iceland, California, and Japan as well as popular groups from the Hudson Valley, NYC, and Western Massachusetts.
