Olde Kinderhook Fair

The Olde Kinderhook Fair will be held Saturday, June 4 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm;  Rain or Shine.  Admission is Free!  The day includes many events taking place in the Village.  Craft Vendors, Fyfe and Drum Muster, Ichabod Crane Art Department exhibit, Book Signing, Kinderhook Reformed Church Pancake Breakfast, Tours of the James Vanderpoel House, Farmers Market, Live Music, Militia Parade and Bouncy Ride for the kids. Activities, food and fun for the whole family.

Attend an English & Continental Exposition Auction
Stair Galleries will have an English & Continental Exposition Auction on June 10 at 6:00 pm.
Exposition Auctions offer a wide variety of items from estates and collectors ranging from the 18th through 20th centuries including furniture, pottery, porcelain, glass, lighting, Asian works of art, tribal art, textiles, rugs, sculpture and a large selection of fine art and prints.  Items typically range from $25 to $2,000.

Enjoy an Improv Cafe'

Word Music - The DownTown Ensemble on June 17 at 8:00 pm at the Hudson Opera House.
$15/adults, $12/HOH members.  The DownTown Ensemble will perform musical pieces using spoken language as music.  Composers include Richard Kostelanetz, Robert Ashley, Jackson Mac Low, Anne Tardos, Daniel Goode and songs by David Garland known for his innovative radio shows Spinning On Air and Evening Music on WNYC.  For more information about the Hudson Opera House call (518) 822-1438 or visit their website at www.hudsonoperahouse.org.

2nd Annual Pride Parade

The 2nd annual pride weekend is June 17-19.  This year we are celebrating our local community and merchants. Saturday, June 18 is the Rally and Festival and Sunday, June 19 is Family Pride for merchants food and goods.  Last year there were well over 500 participants at the first annual pride event and anticipate well over 1,000 participants this year!!!  For more information visit their website at www.hudsonpride.com. 

Biodynamic and Organic Farm and Garden Tour

Triform Camphill Community, a residential community for young adults with special needs, located on a 365-acre farm in Hudson’s rich agricultural region, will host an educational biodynamic and organic farm and garden tour. The tour will take place on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at 2pm at 20 Triform Road in Hudson, New York. This event is free of charge. The walking tour will be led by Triform farmer Martin Gitt, gardeners Rebecca and Etienne Bissonnette and Forestry manager, Ethan Hommel. The tour will include Triform’s 2-acre organic vegetable, herb and flower gardens, as well the farm’s dairy and sustainable forestry areas. On the tour attendees will share an inside look at biodynamic and organic farm and gardening practices and learn about therapeutic land work for people with disabilities. Refreshments will follow along with a question and answer session.

Family Tour at Olana

Olana will have a Father's Day Family Tour on Sunday, June 19, 11:30am. *Vehicle use fee applies.  Explore the house, its paintings and treasures from a child's perspective. Take the family tour and then stop by the Wagon House Education Center for Art in the Barn, or borrow a backpack full of activities to do on the grounds - a family day at Olana couldn't be more perfect! Tours are geared for families with 6-12 year-olds, but all ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Reservations are required by 4pm the preceding Friday. Water Color Painting

Water Color Painting "en plein air" (outdoors);  Adults and Teenagers.  Saturday, June 25th 1:00pm - 4:00pm (rain date June 26) at Ooms Conservation Area at Sutherland Pond, Main Parking Area - 480 Rock City Rd, Chatham. Cost is $25.  Learn to capture the summer light and the beautiful panoramic views of the Taconic Range and Sutherland Pond. Start with a post card size composition and graduate to a larger scale. Basic instruction on color and composition will be demonstrated. Be prepared to set up outdoors for several hours of painting. Bring a portable chair, hat, bug spray, water to drink, and sunglasses. Basic materials provided, participants may bring their own paints and supplies (paints, palette, water, brushes, and easel).
