See a Movie

On March 18 – 21 see The Eleanor Roosevelt Story, an intimate and moving portrait of one of the most remarkable women in American history. It is the story of a lonely, unhappy child who became the most admired and respected woman in the world. Richard Kaplan's lively documentary reveals the human face behind the American icon, beginning with the emotional deprivation suffered by this plain, awkward little girl born into a socially prominent and powerful family. Though she would eventually marry a man who would look beyond her awkwardness, Eleanor was not content to be the proper, silent wife to her husband Franklin's extraordinary political career. Instead, she began a lifelong crusade to speak out about injustice and oppression in any form.  Member $5, General $7 and Students $5 March 18 – 21.  For times, tickets and more information, call (518) 822-8448 or visit their website at www.timeandspace.org.

Attend an Auction

On Saturday, March 27th at 11 am attend an auction at Stair Galleries.  Furniture, Paintings, Porcelain and Decoration from a Hudson Valley Collection will be auctioned off on Saturday, March 27th at 11 am. An impressive and unique collection of Americana, assembled over a forty-year period by two passionate individuals who have thoughtfully selected each object to represent their vision of the American design ethic.  A number of the items were purchased here at Stair Galleries, where the collectors have been loyal clients since the inception of the auction house.  Others were acquired from private collections, dealers and auction houses throughout the United States.Their decision to sell this unique collection was prompted by the purchase of a 19th-century architectural gem, a Federal-period house standing along the Hudson River.  The new residence dictates an entirely different design approach.  For more information about Stair Galleries call (518) 751-1000 or visit their website at www.stairgalleries.com.
