22nd Annual Golf Tournament - May 23

Get your golf clubs ready for the 22nd Annual Columbia County Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament on Monday, May 23, 2011 at the Copake Country Club.  The day will start with registration and lunch provided by Copake Country Club beginning at 11:30 am with a shotgun start at 12:30 pm.  Reservations include golf, cart rental, lunch, open bar cocktail hour and dinner.  Singles or foursomes can register by contacting the Chamber.  The early bird rate of $125.00 is available until May 13. Columbia County Young Professionals at Catamount - June 4

Chamber Seeks Nominatins for the Excellence in Business Awards - June 23

The Columbia County Chamber of Commerce is currently seeking nominations for the Excellence in Business Awards and Showcase.  The event will be held on Thursday, June 23 at the Washington Hose Company, new home of the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce. The deadline for nominations is June 4.  Please contact the Chamber for a nomination form.

Leadership Columbia County Graduation - June 23

Chamber Agricultural Tour - June 25

We invite you to join us to explore agriculture in Columbia County on the 12th annual Chamber Agricultural Awareness Tour on Saturday, June 25 from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm.  The tour will leave from the Washington Hose Company located on Front Street at the base of Warren Street in Hudson at 10:00 am. The tour is open to Chamber members and the public. Tickets are $15 and include coach bus transportation and a lunch of local products.  The tour will return to Washington Hose for at 1:00 pm.  Space is limited.  Please call the Chamber to make a reservation.

Community Events

Celebrate the season and honor the honeybee at the Hawthorne Valley Spring Fair.  Enjoy music, games, puppet shows, children's activities, beekeeper demonstrations, delicious food, and more!  Activity passes: $3 to $5 per child.  Hawthorne Valley is located at 330 County Route 21C in Ghent.  For more information about Hawthorne Valley visit their website at www.hawthornevalleyfarm.org.

The 6th annual Hudson Valley Songfest is scheduled for May 14 at Club Helsinki in Hudson, NY.  Produced by Columbia Arts Team, a locally-based not-for-profit performing arts company, the Songfest enables area songwriters, musicians and performers to have access to major music industry professionals and hit songwriters, and learn about the latest trends and changes that affect the music business.  Admission for an all-day pass to the panels and seminars is $50 (in advance), or $60 during the week preceding the event and at the door.  Some of the industry guests will also be available for a one-on-one consultation for an additional fee.  For more information on Columbia Arts Team and the Songfest, visit their website at www.columbiaartsteam.org.

On Saturday, May 21st, bring your recreational vehicle and/or boat to get a great scrubbing, and benefit the United Way at the same time!  The Boat N RV Warehouse at Exit 21 off I-87 in Coxsackie is the host for the United Way of Columbia and Greene Counties' first fund raiser of the year.  Hot dogs, cold beverages, kids "bouncy" and more!  The cost is an "at will" contribution to the United Way of Columbia and Greene Counties.  Raised funds will be dedicated to programs that build families, support women and children causes, and aid the senior community in Greene and Columbia Counties.  For more information or to volunteer call Brad Poster, Director at (518) 755-2155 (cell).  For directions call Boat N RV Warehouse at 731-9900.

Open Day at Equine Advocates Rescue & Sanctuary on Sunday, May 22 from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm.  Come and spend a few hours walking around and meeting our 80 horses, ponies, donkeys and mules, most of whom were rescued from slaughter, abuse and/or neglect.  All are now happily enjoying their new life at the sanctuary.  Learn about where each animal came from and why they needed to be rescued by reading graphics posted around the property.  Bring a lunch and picnic by the pond - one of the most beautiful and serene spots at the sanctuary.  Sorry, no pets allowed.  Located at 3212 Route 66 in Chatham.  For more information, please call (518) 392-0175.  You can visit the website to learn more about our work and how you can help visit their website at www.equineadvocates.org.
