Nomad Editions Offer Benefit to Chamber Members

One of the founders of Nomad Editions is Jock Spivy, a member of the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce, wants to offer a no-cost benefit -- free subscriptions to Nomad Editions -- to members of the Chamber and your customers. Nomad Editions publishes five interesting and attractive weekly digital magazines, on the following subjects:

Young Professionals Networking - November 10
Columbia County Young Professionals will be hosting their next networking event on Thursday, November 10 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Cafe Le Perche located at 230 Warren Street in Hudson.  All are welcom to attend.  There will be a cash bar. There will be a donation box for cash donations, non-perishable items and/or toys to be given to the residents of Greene County that were hit by the floods.  Reservations are not necessary, but appreciated.  For more information call the Chamber at (518) 828-4417 or visit Columbia County Young Professionals on Facebook.

Mid-Hudson Cable Business After Hours - November 17

Join the Chamber as Mid-Hudson Cable celebrates their 40th year in business by hosting a Business After Hours on Thursday, November 17 in Hudson from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at their Midhudsonmedia Facility.  Business After Hours offer excellent networking opportunities for area business people.  All members of the business community are invited to attend. Midhudsonmedia is located at 30 South 3rd Street in Hudson.  Reservations are not required, but appreciated.

Health Insurance Educational Seminar and Benefit Fair - November 18

EP Nevins Insurance Agency, Inc. is pleased to host a Health insurance Educational Seminar and Open Enrollment Benefit Fair on Friday, November 18, 2011 at the New Office of the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce located at 1 North Front Street in Hudson.  Registration begins at 7:30 am.  At  8:00 am The Health Insurance Seminar will focus on Consumer Driven Health Insurance Plans and funding arrangements for the purpose of  assisting businesses and individuals in controlling rising health insurance costs.  Learn about new Consumer Driven Health Plan designs in the market place, your potential to save money thru tax savings and lower premiums, lower your taxable income through the use of health savings accounts, become more involved in your healthcare options and the cost of your healthcare.  An Open Enrollment Benefit Fair will immediately follow the educational seminar.  Insurance carriers to include Blue Shield of Northeastern NY, CDPHP, Empire Blue Cross, MVP and Guardian Life Insurance Company, and administrative service carriers such as Benefit Concepts Incorporated (BCI) will be available to discuss the plan offerings and funding arrangements for 2012.  For more information you can contact Erin Nevins at erin@epnevins.com of (518) 464-0400 Ext. 11 or Amy Kneller at the Chamber office (518) 828-4417.

Kinderhook Bank Holiday Business After Hours - December 7

Celebrate the holidays with the Chamber as Kinderhook Bank in Chatham hosts the Holiday Business After Hours for the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce members and their guests on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.  Kinderhook Bank  is located at 5 Depot Square in Chatham.  Business After Hours offer excellent networking opportunities for area business people.  All members of the business community are invited to attend this business event.  Light refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be provided.  There is no cost to attend but guests are encouraged to contact the Chamber for reservations at (518) 828-4417.

Hudson Rotary Raffle Drawing & Open House - December 15

Plan to attend the Hudson Rotary Club Wine & Dine Raffle Party at Helsinki Hudson from 5:00 - 7:00 pm on December 15.  One lucky winner will receive 52 - $50 Gift Certificates for area food and drink merchants, a total value of $2,600.  A $10.00 donation gets you one chance to win.  All proceeds to benefit Columbia County Youth Programs.  For more information contact David Colby or any Hudson Rotarian.

Community Events

Tuesday, November 22 - Every Door Direct Mail - this is a simple, low cost and effective way to grow your business and generate more revenue.  No mailing list is needed. You decide what routes you want to deliver.  This is a great and effective way to drive traffic to your business. This presentation will be on November 22 at the Chamber Office from 2:00 - 4:00 pm.  You will receive more information on Every Door Direct Mail followed by Q & A. This will give you a chance to also meet your local Postmaster and the United States Postal Service Marketing Department Team of the Westchester District.  For more information and reservations, contact Theresa Joyner at 518-537-4206.

Solo Cabaret Act on Thursday, November 17 at 8:00 pm the Hudson Opera House will present The Tom Judson Show. After premiering his new show in New York City and performing all summer in Provincetown, Tom Judson brings his new solo cabaret act, “The Tom Judson Show”, to Hudson for a one-night-only special performance to celebrate his fifty-first birthday.  Tickets:  $20 - $18 for members.  For more information about the Hudson Opera House call (518) 822-1438 or visit their website at www.hudsonoperahouse.org.

Holiday Preview and Open House on Saturday, November 19, Valatie Merchants will have a Holiday Preview and Open House from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. There will be bargins, drawings for merchandise baskets, pre-holiday sales, refreshments and a few suprises!  Shop locally and save gas, money and time.

Be a part of Columbia County tradition and donate a wreath to the 26th Annual Gallery of Wreaths Silent Auction.  Wreaths will be displayed at the Vanderpoel House of History in Kinderhook November 25th through November 27th. All wreaths must be donated to the society to be auctioned during the annual holiday program.  All proceeds from the auction benefit the society's public programs.  For more informatio about the Columbia County Historical Society call (518) 758-9265 or visit their website at www.cchsny.org

The Ghent Playhouse presents Menagerie a'trois! Our Annual Panto!  Menageries a Trois by Judy Staber and the Loons.  American Idol ain't got nothing on the PantoLoons!  This show is directed by Tom Detwiler.  The Show runs November 25 through December 11. Shows are Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm and Sunday at 2:00 pm.  Tickets are $18, $15 for Friends and $10 for children under 12.  For more information about The Ghent Playhouse call (518) 392-6264 or visit their website at www.ghentplayhouse.org.

The Reformed Dutch Church of Claverack celebrates the 51st. year of Annual Holiday Bazaars on Saturday, November 19, 2011 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.  Along with hundreds of homemade items for your home, you will discover unique holiday gifts, baskets filled with speciality items for every person and every occasion, holiday decorations, and delicious breads, cakes, cookies, and pies.   Gingerbread cookies are ready for children to decorate.  A Silent Auction, Trifles and Treasures Table and a luncheon in the Pine Room complete the fellowship and fun of this event.  The church’s address is:  88 Highway 9-H, Claverack, New York 12513.  The church is located ¼ mile north of the 9-H and 23 B traffic light in the Village of Claverack.
