Art Omi - Business After Hours - October 7

Join the Chamber as Art Omi hosts a Business After Hours on Wednesday, October 7 at their Visitor's Center.  The event will run from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.  Business After Hours’ offer excellent networking opportunities for area business people.  All members of the business community are invited to attend this business event.  Hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be offered during the After Hours.  Art Omi's Visitor's Center is located at 1405 County Route 22 in Ghent.  There is no cost to attend, but guests are encouraged to contact the Chamber at (518) 828-4417 if they plan to attend.

Verizon - Business BEFORE Hours - October 8

Chamber members and their guests are invited to attend the Chamber’s Business Before Hours hosted by Verizon Wireless on Thursday, October 8th from 7:30 to 9:30 am. Buy Local Business Expo - October 21

The 5th Annual Buy Local Business Expo will be held on Thursday, October 21 at Columbia-Greene Community College. The Expo will run from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and will feature over 70 booths to showcase your products and services to Columbia and Greene County businesses and residents. Reserve early as there is only a limited number of booths available. Booth prices start at $149 for members. Columbia County Bounty members can register for a booth for only $79 when serving food at the event. Sponsorship of the event starts at $249. Women's Networking Luncheon - November 3

Lippera's at the Chatham House will host a Women's Networking Luncheon on Wednesday, November 3 from 12:00 to 1:30 pm.  Additional networking will be available until 2:00 pm.  Networking luncheons provide a great opportunity for area business people to promote their business to other business professionals.  Lippera's is located on 29 Hudson Ave in Chatham.  The cost is $20 for members and $24 for non-members.  The event is sponsored by Sierra Capital. Health Insurance Open Enrollment for Sole Proprietors - November 1-30, 2010

The Columbia County Council on the Arts will present the 16th annual ArtsWalk from October 8th -11th.  celebrating the rich array of artists and arts activities in our beautiful corner of the world. Artswalk encourages visitors to drive up and down scenic Route 66 for activities in both Hudson and for the first time in Chatham as well.  Many artists will be represented this year at the members show in the Fairhouse at the Columbia County Fairgrounds located in the Chatham. 134 Works in all media will be displayed all weekend.  For more information about Columbia County Council on the Arts call (518) 671-6213 or visit their website at www.artscolumbia.org.

FilmColumbia returns to celebrate its 11th festival season on Wednesday, October 20.  Hosted by The Chatham Film Club,  the festival will screen more than 30 independent films, documentaries, shorts and animations from around the world.  FilmColumbia unfolds with award-winning screenings and sneak previews.  The festival will be held at the historic Crandell Theatre along with the Morris Memorial Community Center and Tracy Memorial Hall.  Tickets can be purchased during the festival at the Tracy Memorial Hall, at TicketFusion after October 3rd.   FilmColumbia runs for five days from October 20-24.  For tickets or more information about FilmColumbia call (518) 392-3459 or visit their website at www.filmcolumbia.com.

Community Events

On Saturday, October 9th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm is the OK Fall Festival in the Village of Kinderhook celebrate fall (rain or shine).  Come and enjoy scarecrow making, apple bake off, hay rides, pumpkin painting, farmer's market, food vendors and music.   A fun day the whole family can enjoy.   For more information about OK Fall Festival in Kinderhook visit their website at www.kbpa.org.

Attend Oktoberfest in Gemantown. Events taking place October 8 through October 10.  Including free tractor and horse drawn wagon rides, farmers market, craft, food and game vendors, apple pie contest, petting zoo, music, fireworks and exhibits.  Free admission and parking.  Oktoberfest will be fun for the whole family.  For infomation on specific events on each day, visit their website at www.germantownnyhistory.org.

The Austerlitz Historical Society will present the 13th annual Autumn in Austerlitz on Sunday, October 10th from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at the site of Old Austerlitz Village on Route 22 in Austerlitz.  The event will include a variety of activities designed to portray an early 19th century theme, which is the time period of the reconstructed Old Austerlitz.  Exhibits, demonstrations, vendors, music, fun for the kids and adults and food.  Admission to the event is $6 per adult and children under 12 are free. On Saturday, November 6, a silent and live auction will be held at Columbia-Greene Community College in the Professional Academic Center at the Greenport campus.  This year’s event, entitled “An Evening of Wine and Roses” will feature more than 100 items available by silent auction, including jewelry, paintings, hand crafted items, golf and restaurant gift certificates.  Big-ticket items will be auctioned off during the live auction.  All money raised will go to the Columbia-Greene Community Foundation scholarship fund to help assist deserving students attain their academic goals.
