The Columbia County Council on the Arts will present the 16th annual ArtsWalk from October 8th -11th. celebrating the rich array of artists and arts activities in our beautiful corner of the world. Artswalk encourages visitors to drive up and down scenic Route 66 for activities in both Hudson and for the first time in Chatham as well. Many artists will be represented this year at the members show in the Fairhouse at the Columbia County Fairgrounds located in the Chatham. 134 Works in all media will be displayed all weekend. The Austerlitz Historical Society will present the 13th annual Autumn in Austerlitz on Sunday, October 10th from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at the site of Old Austerlitz Village on Route 22 in Austerlitz. The event will include a variety of activities designed to portray an early 19th century theme, which is the time period of the reconstructed Old Austerlitz. Exhibits, demonstrations, vendors, music, fun for the kids and adults and food. Admission to the event is $6 per adult and children under 12 are free. Held rain or shine. Ghent Playhouse to open their 36th Season with Noel Coward’s uproarious sophisticated comedy “Hay Fever” opening October 15th running through October 31st. "Hay Fever" is a play about what was supposed to be a quiet weekend in the country. As the guest list grows and the confusion mounts so does the hilarity. Performances are Friday and Saturdays at 8:00 pm and Sunday matinees at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $15; $12 for Ghent Playhouse members. FilmColumbia returns to celebrate its 11th festival season on Wednesday, October 20. Hosted by The Chatham Film Club, the festival will screen more than 30 independent films, documentaries, shorts and animations from around the world. FilmColumbia unfolds with award-winning screenings and sneak previews. The festival will be held at the historic Crandell Theatre along with the Morris Memorial Community Center and Tracy Memorial Hall. Tickets can be purchased during the festival at the Tracy Memorial Hall, at TicketFusion after October 3rd. FilmColumbia runs for five days from October 20-24. Sundog Solar at Solaqua is having a Halloween Costume and Dance Party on Saturday, October 30th from 7:00 pm to 12:00 am to benefit the Solaqua Power & Art Redevelopment Project. The party will be held at Solaqua Campus located at 343 Route 295 in Chatham.
