Pocketbook
Factory to Host Chamber After Hours during ArtsWalk
Hudson,
NY – Art lovers and Chamber members are invited to view the
many talented local artists at the Pocketbook Factory during
the Chamber's Business After Hours on Monday, October 2 from
5:00 to 7:00 pm. The event is being held to celebrate
the 12th annual ArtsWalk.
Columbia
County Council on the Arts' annual 10-day visual and performing
arts festival, Hudson ArtsWalk, will kick off its 12th year
on September 29 and end on October 9 after two weekends
of exciting exhibits and events celebrating the county's artists
and their art. The City of Hudson, Columbia County,
and CCCA collaborate for this yearly art festival in which
CCCA members exhibit their painting, sculpture, photography,
textiles, fiber art, and print making and present their videos,
dance, and music throughout the city of Hudson.
The
Pocketbook Factory is an enormous 25,000 square foot space
that is in the process of being renovated to create exhibition
spaces to showcase more artists than ever before, making this
site the focal point for art viewing. The ArtsWalk Committee
contacted and selected a variety of experienced curators
to create contemporary exhibits which will present the many
talented artists in the County to their best advantage and
for the best advantage of ArtsWalk visitors. The Factory
will also be host to some of the exciting events during ArtsWalk
-- the Eat For Art Preview Party and the ArtsWalk
Opening Artists' Party.
The
Chamber is partnering with the Columbia County Council on
the Arts to bring awareness about arts and culture in Columbia
County and to make local business people aware that there
is a worldwide movement to rescue old industrial buildings
and turn them into convention or arts or multi-use centers,
rather than building horrendous generic new structures. This
will be the Council on the Arts third year at the Pocketbook
Factory, lending their resources to the owner, Eleanor Ambos,
in her efforts to bring the building back to life and attract
film crews, catalogue producers, weddings and much more. Eleanor
recently attracted a well-known department store, Crate and
Barrel for a photo shoot. Join us for this exciting opportunity
to see one-of-a-kind art at this extraordinary venue.

After Hours offer excellent networking opportunities for area

will be provided. There is no cost to attend this event.
