Be a Kid Again at the Columbia County Fair

Get ready to BE A KID AGAIN, this year at the 2011 Columbia County Fair! Jam-packed with entertainment and non-stop action. Everyone’s favorite end-of-summer pastime for six sensational days of excitement. Special guests this year include country singer Gloriana and 1964 the Tribute (a tribute to The Beatles). The fair runs everyday August 31- September 5 at 3:00pm to 11:00 pm on Wednesday and from 10:00am to 11:00 pm Thursday thru Monday. Admission includes parking and ranges from $10 to $12, children 12 and under are admitted free.  Columbia County Fairgrounds, 182 Hudson Avenue, Chatham. Parsons Dance

On September 4 at 7:30 pm, David Parsons, one of modern dance’s great living dance-makers, returns for a sixth consecutive season to The Tent at PS21 with his company Parsons Dance.  The performances are scheduled to feature six pieces, three of which are new to PS 21.  The dances include The Envelope, Tango Oficina, Slow Dance, Kind of Blue, Caught and Nascimento.  $40/general, $35/PS21 members.  For more information call (518) 392-6121 or visit their website at http://www.ps21chatham.org.

Enjoy a Play - Tennis in Nablus

See a Show - Stones in His Pockets

Attend a Benefit Play Reading in Remembrance of 9/11

The Columbia Greene Community College Foundation proudly presents a reading of Kent R. Brown's Award Winning Play "In The Middle of Nowhere" on Saturday, September 10th at 7pm in the Forum of the Professional Academic Center at Columbia-Greene Community College.  Directed by Emmy Award Winning Actor, Director and Columbia County resident Stewart J. Zully the play is a harrowing love story of a middle-aged couple whose lives are change by the advent of terrorism and irrational fear.  The performance, which is in part a reminder of the wide-ranging effects of the events of 9/11, will benefit both the college scholarship fund and the Greenport Rescue Squad.  The two member cast features Eileen Schulyler (Artistic Director of Theater Voices, Capital Rep.) and Malachy Cleary (HBO's Boardwalk Empire). A talkback with the playwright and cast members will follow the reading. Sample Delicious and Diverse Local Cuisine and Dining Opportunities

Join the BeLo 3rd group for the 3rd Annual Taste of Hudson food festival with over 20 City of Hudson restaurants, caterers, and retail food purveyors. This year’s participants will offer “tastings” of select menu items that highlight the diverse cuisine and dining opportunities in Hudson.  Food lovers can graze their way through appetizers, entrees, gourmet coffee, teas, cheeses and desserts. Tickets are purchased on site the day of the event.  Rain or shine, the event will be held on September 10th under the big tent between 2nd & 3rd on Warren Street.  The festival runs from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. Open Day at Equine Advocates

Sunday, September 11.  OPEN DAY at Equine Advocates Rescue & Sanctuary from 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM.   Come and spend a few hours walking around and meeting the 80 rescued horses, ponies, donkeys and mules who reside at our 140-acre horse sanctuary.  There are graphics at each paddock to learn about where each animal came from and why they needed to be rescued.  We also have a beautiful pond where you are welcome to come and picnic that day.  Located at 3212 Route 66 in Chatham.  Sorry, but no pets allowed.  For more information, please call 518-245-1599.  You can visit the webite to learn more about our work and how you can help at www.equineadvocates.org.

YOU CAN BE PART OF HISTORY!

On September 17th more than 1,000 people will come together to join Greene and Columbia Counties across the Rip Van Winkle in “Hands Connecting Lives”! The United Way of Columbia and Greene Counties is dedicating all funds raised to support local programs that help local families facing challenges of domestic violence, depression, substance abuse, mental health and child abuse. One of the features of the event will be an information tent where people can learn about many local services. Photography and Nature

On September 25 Columbia Land Conservancy offers Photography and Nature from 2:00-5:00 pm $25/adults and teens.
