Annual Legislative Breakfast – April 8
Congressman Chris Gibson, Senator Kathy Marchione, Assemblyman Peter Lopez and Steve McLaughlin, Assemblymember Didi Barrett and Columbia County Board of Supervisors Chairman Matt Murrell have been invited to speak at the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce annual Legislative Breakfast.  This event offers Columbia County’s legislators an opportunity to outline their plans for 2016 and beyond to the local business community.  The breakfast will be held on Friday, April 8 at Columbia-Greene Community College in the Student Center from 7:30 to 9:00 am.  The college is located at 4400 Route 23 in Hudson.  The cost of the breakfast is $18.  Reservations are required by April 4.  Please contact the Chamber to make a reservation at 828-4417.

Business After Hours @ Sloop Brewing Co. – April 14
Sloop Brewing Co. invites you to a Business After Hours to check out their new place on Thursday, April 14 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.  Business After Hours’ offer excellent networking opportunities for area business people. All members of the business community are invited to attend this business event. Women’s Networking Luncheon – April 20
Ladies, don’t miss this great way to promote your business at one of our most popular events at The Vanderbilt in Philmont on Wednesday, April 20 from 12:00 – 1:30 pm. Please contact the Chamber for reservations by April 15. Cost for Members is $25 and non-members is $35. Networking luncheons provide a great opportunity for area business women to promote their business to other professionals interested in what they have to offer or know someone who is. In a roundtable format, business representatives will have 2-4 minutes to promote their own business and distribute promotional and marketing materials. Mobile Social Media Workshop Part II – April 27
Second part to the Mobile Social Media with Mark Johnson on Wednesday, April 27 at the Chamber office from 8:30 – 10:00 am.  This will include social and digital media marketing.  This is for any business, organization or individuals who have started a social media site like facebook, instagram, youtude and the list goes on.  If you are currently investing  time and money into social and digital advertising this workshop may be for you.   To reserve a space, please call the Chamber at 518-828-4417.

Business After Hours @ New York Golf Park – May 12
New York Golf Park welcomes all Columbia County business people and their families to come and take part in miniature golf, driving range and batting cages on Thursday, May 12 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. Take advantage of this opportunity to network with fellow business professionals and have some fun. FREE Access, Contests and Prizes. This event is open to everyone and there is no cost to attend.  Reservations are not necessary, but appreciated.

27th Annual Golf Tournament – May 16
Get your golf clubs ready for the 27th Annual Columbia County Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament on Monday, May 16, 2016 at the Copake Country Club.  The day will start at 11:30 am with registration and a complimentary lunch provided by Copake Country Club The Greens catering and play begins at 12:30 pm with a shotgun start. Speed Networking – May 26

Columbia Economic Development Corporation – Annual Member Meeting – April 19

How AIDS made The New York Times a Better Newspaper – On April 30th, co-authors Samuel G. Freedman and Kerry Donahue will speak about their book, Dying Words, The AIDS Reporting of Jeff Schmalz and How It Transformed The New York Times. Freedman, an award-winning journalist who currently writes a religion column for The Times was mentored by Schmalz.  Donahue is the director of Radio Programming at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.  She has produced an audio documentary on Schmalz’ influence.  This event will be held at 4pm in the Community Room of the NEW Hudson Area Library, 51 North 5th Street.  This reading and book signing is being presented in collaboration with the Alliance for Positive Health and is occurring in conjunction with Dining Out for Life (www.diningoutforlife.com).  For more information go to www.HudsonAreaLibrary.org.
