Annual Legislative Breakfast- April 7, 2006

Business After Hours at CMI-DRA Imaging, PC- April 27, 2006

Tourism Leadership Luncheon - May 10, 2006
The Tourism Committee of the Chamber will host the third luncheon for local tourism leaders on Wednesday, May 10 at 12:00 pm at Bezalel Gables Fine Catering and Events.  A presentation by Chef David Robinson of Bezalel Gables will be given.  The committee is asking attendees to invite their County supervisors to be a guest at this event.  The two previous luncheons were sold out, so we recommend getting your reservations in early.  The cost is $15.  Please contact the Chamber to reserve today.
Business After Hours at National Union Bank of Kinderhook - May 10, 2006
National Union Bank of Kinderhook will host a Business After Hours on Wednesday, May 10 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm.  National Union Bank of Kinderhook operates four full-service offices in Kinderhook, Chatham, Valatie and Greenport and offer a full range of consumer and commercial products.  The After Hours will be held in the Valatie Branch located in the Hannaford Plaza on Route 9.  Please click here for more information.
17th Annual Golf Tournament - May 22, 2006

Capital District Physicians' Health Plan (CDPHP) is introducing a HSA High Deductible PPO.  This innovative new plan can offer freedom, affordability and security for your insurance coverage.  The Chamber is offering a free informational presentation by CDPHP to discuss this new product that will be available to members on July 1, 2006.  The sessions will be held on April 27 from 9:00 am - 10:00 am or 11:00 am - 12:00 pm at the Chamber office.  If you are interested in signing up for either of the sessions, please contact Bonnie Link at 828-4417 or blink@columbiachamber-ny.com.
Join the 2006 Fall Business Expo Committee
The Chamber is organizing the 2006 Fall Business Expo Committee.  If you are interested in participating on this committee to help make this a successful event, please contact Cheryl Meenagh at 828-4417 or cmeenagh@columbiachamber-ny.com.  The New York State Department of Labor is hosting a business expo on April 5 from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm at Columbia-Greene Community College.  We encourage anyone interested in joining the committee to stop by that expo to help develop ideas and see the layout and design. 
Space Alliance Technology Outreach Program (SATOP)
If your small business is faced with a technical challenge SATOP can provide up to 40 hours of FREE technical assistance for qualified requests, utilizing the vast engineering expertise of NASA and participating Alliance Partners (NASA contractors, sub-contractors or Universities).  SATOP is designed to speed the transfer of US Space Program knowledge and technology to the private sector, to provide economic benefits to the community, and to raise public awareness of the Space program.  Please click here for more information.

The Columbia County Community Healthcare Consortium has announced April appointments for Child Health Plus, Family Health Plus and Medicaid enrollments.  Many working individuals and families experience difficulty finding affordable health insurance.  Enrollment counselors will be available through the month of April for individuals and families seeking insurance.  For more information and the schedule, please contact the Healthcare Consortium at (518) 822-9600 x107 or visit their website at www.columbiahealthnet.org.

The Nature Institute is offering a summer course entitled "Coming Alive to Nature" from June 25 to July 1.  It is an advanced course for people with some familiarity with the Goethean approach to science and are serious about working further with the method in one form or another.   The course fee is $450 and the registration deadline is May 15.  For more information contact the Nature Institute at (518) 672-0116 or visit their website at www.natureinstitute.org.

School Information
The United States Air Force Liberty Pops will perform on April 6 at the Taconic Hills Performing Arts Center.  The doors open at 6:00 pm and the show starts at 7:00 pm.  The concert is sponsored by Taconic Hills School and The Independent Newspaper.  Admission is free, but tickets are required.  To order tickets please call (518) 325-0314 or visit their website at www.taconichills.k12.ny.us.
