The Hudson
Opera House is sponsoring a three-day workshop on
Creative Writing and Narrative Prose with Author Laura Stone.
The workshop is for accomplished and aspiring writers and
will meet on April 9 and April 10 nd conclude on April 12
from noon to 3:00 pm at the Hudson Opera House. Participants
will have an opportunity to present their work in a public
reading held on Saturday afternoon. Fees for the workshop
are $175 or $150 for Hudson Opera House members. Space

Columbia Arts Team is pleased to announce
the first annual Performing Arts Conference on Saturday, April
26 at 1:00 pm at the Hudson Opera House. The conference
in free to anyone interested in discussing and advancing arts
in the region. All performers, actors, musicians,
singers, comics and anyone else involved in the performing
arts are encouraged to attend. The agenda will included
topics such as how to increase interest in the performing
arts in the community, how to reach out to children and teens
in the community, what type of events would best benefit local
artists, how to get the local media and business community
to become more involved in promoting the arts and more.

The Hudson Area Association
Library in conjunction with the NY Council for the
Humanities, Speakers in the Humanities Program will present
a presentation on April 5 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Dr.
Terry Hamblin, Associate Professor, SUNY Dehli will present
"You Say You Want A Revolution: John Lennon, The Beatles
and the Politics of the 1960's and 1970's". This
lecture and multimedia presentation highlights the Beatles
impact on the political, cultural and social changes of the
1960's. Through examining the music and lyrics of the
Beatles, Dr. Hamblin will explore how they reflected and influenced
the various social, political and cultural movements that

The
Columbia-Greene Diabetes Coalition a program of the
Healthcare Consortium is hosting LIVE cooking demonstrations
at each of its next four meetings, beginning with the Friday,
April 4 session at Greene County Office Building in Catskill.

Visit the Hudson-Chatham Winery,
which is reopening for the season on Saturday, April 5, and
will be open every weekend in April from 11:00 am to 5:00
pm on Saturdays and noon to 5:00 pm on Sundays. To kick
off the season, the winery is hosting a Culinary Salute to
Spring on Saturday, April 5. In addition to a regular

The Taconic Hills Performing
Arts Center will feature the Spring Valley Puppet
Theater who will present a contemporary twist to the timeless
classic, Jack in the Beanstalk on Saturday, April 12.
This award winning production of a popular classic holds many
surprises with the use of beautifully crafted hand and rod
puppets, colorful scenic design, special effects and an original
script in which Jack, with help of a clever chicken, saves
the day. Jack in the Beanstalk runs 35-40 minutes and
is recommended for audience members ages 5 and up. Immediately

Valley Puppet Theater will host a short "behind the curtain"

Miracle Tomato & The Small Revolution Expo
is the first event of its kind in the region. It will
bring together local farms, restaurants, green businesses
and initiatives, climate change organizations, scholars, activists
and artists - all those who are shaping our collective futures
in the areas of food quality, safety and availability and
sustainable solutions for home, school, work, agriculture
and municipalities. The Miracle Tomato play will be
held on Friday, April 25 at and Saturday, April 26 at the
Basilica in Hudson. The Small Revolution Expo will take place
on Saturday, April 26 only from 2:00 pm to 6:30 pm and will
include a lecture by Craig Holdrege of the Nature Institute,

The Upper Hudson River Alliance invites businesses
to take part in a great opportunity to take on a challenging
season. The 2008 tourism season presents some great
challenges to the businesses and sites in and around the Hudson
Valley and the Upper Hudson River Alliance is excited about
an opportunity to take on those challenges. Through
a partnership with the Alliance, Catskill Mountain Guide and
NYS Division of Tourism, a unique opportunity has been created
to reduce business expenses and increase the range of marketing.
