Available
through the collaboration of the Healthcare Consortium and
the Columbia County Office of the Aging, the new Long-Term
Care Insurance Education and Outreach Program helps people
start thinking about their future with a full understanding
of the options available to them as they make crucial decisions
about their financial security. Planning early for long-term
care can help save money, protect your assets and maintain
your independence. This program assists people in planning
for the cost of long-term care through public presentations,
one on one counseling, and direct assistance in choosing and
obtaining long-term care insurance. They will present

The
Kinderhook Memorial Library has received a collection of teen-recommended,
teen-reviewed current videos and DVDs addressing substance
abuse and related health issues. The videos were among
the highest ranked over 89 reviewed this past summer by teenagers
in the Teen Intern Program, part of the Mid-Hudson Library
System's Health Information project. The videos, which
have group performance rights, are available for borrowing
at no charge and are of particular value to students, parents,
teachers and youth service providers. For more information

The Chatham House was pleased to have their grand opening
of the Wine Cellar last week. They offered live music
and complimentary food during the week long celebration that
began on December 28th and ran through New Year's Eve.
The Wine Cellar will continue with live music on Fridays through
the long, cold winter, slowly adding other nights as the weather
breaks in the spring. The next performance will be on

The Healthcare Consortium recently announced that they have
been awarded the Ovarian Cancer Awareness and Education Initiative
grant by the New York State Department of Health. The
grant award is about $18,000, which runs from October 1, 2006
through September 31, 2007. The program will continue
under the existing name, Ovarian Cancer Awareness Initiative
for Columbia and Greene Counties, and will promote awareness
about the risk factors and signs of Ovarian Cancer.

Well-known local singer and Hillsdale resident Christina
Dellea has released a new CD, "The Songs I Sing".
The CD features Dellea singing original songs and her favorites
from the 70s. The CD is now available at Tune Street
in Great Barrington, MA, Oblong Books in Millerton and online
at CDBaby.com and columbiaartsteam.org. "The Songs
I Sing" was recorded at Systems Two in Brooklyn, NY and
produced by noted producer/songwriter and Copake resident
Sandy McKnight. Dellea performs locally, both as a soloist
and as part of the groups 'The Pop!ternatives' and 'Harmony
and Hearts'. She is also founder and director of the

Capital Region recently presented checks to 144 local charitable
organizations totaling $9,700 on behalf of its clients.
At the recent annual Gifts to the Community holiday reception,
Key gave its clients an opportunity to select a "key"
with values of $25 to $500. KeyBank clients were then
able to designate the charitable organization to which the
money will be donated. KeyBank's Capital Region contributes
more than $1 million annually to area organizations.
Some of these organizations included the American Cancer Society
, the Regional Food Bank and Northeast Parent and Child.

The Ghent Playhouse will feature "Wait
Until Dark" from January 19 through February 4.
"Wait Until Dark," which opened on Broadway in 1966
was later made into a popular film with Audrey Hepburn and
Alan Arkin. Frederick Knott's play is an innovative
and highly entertaining thriller, filled with suspense. The
play runs on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 pm and Sundays
at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $12 for Playhouse members and
$15 for the general public. This production is not recommended

The Taconic Hills Performing
Arts Center will present the Jazz Knights on Saturday,
January 27 at 7:30 pm. Jazz Knights have captivated
