Resources of Columbia County offers a First-Time Homebuyers
class at Columbia-Greene Community College four times a year.
Over the course of five sessions, participants hear from various
local experts who share information specifically tailored
to first-time buyers. Through a combination of presentations
and interactive learning activities, the course provides an
interesting and fun way to become prepared to take the big
step of buying a home. The next class begins on November

Enjoy great dining during Hudson Valley Restaurant
Week from November 6-17. Hudson Valley Restaurant Week
is a celebration of the culinary riches of New York's Hudson
Valley, including Columbia, Dutchess, Ulster, Westchester,
Rockland, Orange and Putnam Counties. During the 10-day
celebration, participating restaurants are serving up three-course
prix-fixe lunches for $16 and/or three-course dinners for

The Kinderhook Memorial Library welcomes William B. Patrick,
author of Saving Troy: a Year with Firefighters and Paramedics
in a Battered City on Thursday, November 9 at 7:30 pm.
Mr. Patrick will read from and discuss his compelling and
unique chronicle of a year with professional firefighters
and paramedics in Troy, New York. The reading is free

"Love's Labor Lost", a
play by William Shakespeare will be performed by Taconic Hills
High School and directed by two directors from Shakespeare
& Company on November 9 & 11 at 7:30 pm. The
play is a comedy with many twists and turns in the course
of true love. The performance will take place at the
Taconic Hill's Performing Arts Center. For more information

Chef Ralph Lupoli will host a cooking class entitled "What
Goes with the Turkey" on Saturday November 11 at 6:30

The 4th annual Columbia-Greene Diabetes Coalition Dinner will
be held on Friday, November 17 at Columbia-Greene Community
College from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. The annual dinner is free
of charge and open to residents of Columbia and Greene Counties,
particularly persons with diabetes, their families and their
caregivers. Reservations are required. During
the dinner, Ruth DiRuzzio, BS, RN-C, CDE, will speak to attendees
about what the numbers mean in a presentation entitled "Know
your Numbers". Ms. DiRuzzio's discussion of diabetes
control and management will take an in-depth look at glucose
readings, both individually with a meter, and via the long-term
A1C blood test. The Columbia-Greene Diabetes Coalition

Geoffrey Platt, Jr., Executive Director of Boscobel, has announced
that on Saturday, November 18 all residents of Columbia County

Stageworks/Hudson
invites you to celebrate The Play's the Thing!
on Saturday, November 4. This annual gala
is held to support the continued growth of Stageworks/Hudson.
The Gala will begin at 5:30 pm and will feature a live auction,
dinner and the First Annual Stageworks One Minute Play Festival.
The one minute plays are written by, the gala guests, and
produced and performed by Stageworks. For more information

The Columbia Berkshire Craft Guild will host the 4th
annual Studio Tour on Saturday, November 11 and Sunday,
November 12 from noon to 5 pm. See first hand where

busy artists clean-up their studios and are available for
questions and to buy unique works of art and fine craft direct
from the makers. Tickets are available for purchase

Get ready for a Winter Walk on Warren Street
on Saturday, December 2 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Hudson's
main street will be transformed into a winter wonderland,
as the Hudson Opera House "A Winter Walk on Warren Street",
the eagerly-awaited kick-off to the holiday season in historic
Hudson. Always held on the first Saturday in December,
this festive holiday celebration is now in its ninth year
and become a premier event in the Hudson Valley. Winter
Walk features dancers, storytellers, and musicians performing
in shop windows, horse-drawn carriage rides, live reindeer
and a Santa Parade. Groups of carolers stroll the streets,
along with the walking Grandfather Clock, the Gingerbread
Boy and other characters. There is much to see and do.
