Economic Development/Government Affairs Committee Update
The Economic Development/Government Affairs Committee of the Chamber has invited local business people over the past several months to discuss ideas or issues pertaining to the development of Columbia County. A presentation was given by the Harlem Valley Rail Trail Association in June and Sam Pratt from Friends of Hudson spoke to the committee in July. Carol Derfner from the Shaker Museum and Library will address the committee on August 31. "Magic Moments in Selling" - A Special Offer for Chamber Members - Thursday, August 25, 2005
Internationally respected author, speaker and seminar leader, Anne Miller teaches sales people how to increase their business; coaches CEOs and senior management to communicate successfully to key constituencies; and enables technical people to transform complex information into simpler, meaningful messages. Anne will be coming to Columbia County on August 25, 2005 for a one-day seminar. The Chamber will co-host this event with Chamber member 360 Warren Street, LLC. Superintendents Breakfast- Tuesday, August 16, 2005
On August 16, the Columbia and Greene County Chambers will be hosting a breakfast to meet the new and existing Columbia and Greene County superintendents. This is a great opportunity for businesses to connect with their local school districts. Superintendents will have a chance to meet with a variety of local business people in a networking session. Regional Business After Hours - Friday, August 19, 2005 at Clermont State Historic Site

The Chamber will host a Regional Business After Hours at the Clermont State Historic Site on Friday, August 19 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. Fingar Insurance, Crawford and Associates and Germantown Telephone Company, Inc. will sponsor the event. Please click here for more information.

Farm Fest - Saturday, October 1, 2005
The Chamber will host the 3rd Annual Farm Fest on Saturday, October 1, 2005 from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm at the Columbia County Fairgrounds on Route 66 in Chatham. Events of the day will include exhibits, farm equipment supplies, demonstrations, sales of Columbia County products, music, storytelling, animals, hands-on activities for kids, hay maze and hay jump, lumber jack event and much more. KJ's Gymnastics joins thousands of organization across the country in celebrating the fourth-annual National Gymnastics Day on Saturday, August 6, 2005 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. Adult Fitness classes, children's activities and KJ's Exhibition Team will be featured along with a Cartwheel-A-thon for the Children's Miracle Network. This year COARC is celebrating forty years of providing programs and services to individuals experiencing disabilities. To commemorate this milestone, COARC is hosting an exciting day of music, food, and an aerobatic display over the Hudson River. The event is planned for Saturday, September 10, 2005 from 3:00 pm - 10:00 pm, with a rain date of Sunday, September 11th. Tickets for the event are $20 ($15 for COARC members if purchased before September 10). The Chamber will be organizing a display case for Taconic Hills Central School District on business information in Columbia County. We would like to showcase different businesses throughout the year. Community Events
The Columbia County Fair will run from August 31 - September 5 at the Chatham Fairgrounds on Route 66 in Chatham. Come and enjoy agricultural exhibits, music, entertainment, midway, Volunteer Fireman's parade, food and fireworks. Visit their website at www.columbiafair.com.
